Guess what? The ONLY women's coats you can buy there are pink. Not only are they pink....but they are over $25 dollars more than the men's coats(men's $21.99....women's $49.99). I thought maybe someone had priced them wrong so I took it up to the manager. Nope....right prices.

I asked him why the pricing difference....surely it can't cost $28 bucks to die the fabric pink. He said the women's coat was made of better material. So I put them side by side and compared them. Nope, actually, the women's coat was a lot thinner...you could even see through it. He said, "Well, the men's really can be unisex". Sorry....but unless you are talking T-shirts...they really are made to fit a man. To prove my point I put one on and it came to about mid-thigh and the sleeves were about 6 inches too long. GRRRRRRR....how discriminatory.

Yea, that seems to be the case in a lot of uniform sales. Seems like a good niche market for someone to get into.

It does stink, erin.  Have you ever noticed that it is more expensive to have a lady's blouse or slacks cleaned, than a man's shirt or pants? 
If you are game to shop around, perhaps even online, I woudl think you could find what you need for a good price in a reasonable color.  I am a Food Network junkie and I also watch show like Top Chef.  I have yet to see a woman in a pink chef's coat!

Well Hi Dusty...long time no see.
I've been looking around online. I have a big party on Tuesday and I really do need a new coat. I don't think I'll be able to get one shipped that quick. We do have a few uniform stores in town so tomorrow I'm going to check them out. It just really chaps my ass that women's clothes always seem to cost more. This time it really got to me because there just wasn't another option available, which is BS in my opinion. And the pink thing.....ugh! I mean it is a chef coat...it's going to get food on it and I'd like to be able to add a little bleach when it does.

Here's a list of women's chef coats online.  I see the pink one you mentioned - it's hidious.  There's a nice Chelsea women's coat for $26.95.  Not sure about the quality but it may be worth looking into.

Sorry to hear that.

I get my white with black trim coat and black/white stripe pants from the local Uniform Outlet. I haven't been around in awhile, but will look for the pink ones just so I can laugh at them.

Not only is that BS, it's just an all around bad idea.

A female in a pink chef coat would have an ice cube's chance of hell of being taken seriously by the men in a professional kitchen.
