Why Beautiful Women Marry Less Attractive Men
By Jeanna Bryner, LiveScience Staff Writer

Women seeking a lifelong mate might do well to choose the guy a notch below them in the looks category. New research reveals couples in which the wife is better looking than her husband are more positive and supportive than other match-ups.

The finding "seems very reasonable," said Dan Ariely, a professor of behavioral economics at MIT's Program in Media Arts and Sciences and Sloan School of Management. "Men are very sensitive to women's attractiveness. Women seem to be sensitive to men's height and salary," said Ariely, who was not involved in the recent study.

Those who wish to see this in action need only attend a conference (any conference) primarily attended by electronics engineers.

I'll admit it - I could generally care less what a guy's salery is, as long as he's not expecting me to support him.  His height, yeah, that's a factor because by experience I know I don't do well dealing with men who have a Napolean Complex due to lack of stature.

His personality?  Depends on whether I intend to do more than screw him until he begs for a chance to rest or intend to keep him around for a while.  If the only reason I'm out with him is to boink him I could give a flip what sort of personality he has - but his looks are gonna be a definate make or break point.  If I intend to keep him around - his personality  becomes a factor, but if he hasn't got sufficient Physical chemistry/looks there to begin with, I doubt I'll make it to a point of considering keeping him around on tap.

Beauty in the eye of the beholder? PPPppppfffffffttttttt.. please.  While there is Some truth to that, and the concept of "inner beauty is  more important" - if there isn't physical attraction, ya don't bother to dig deeply enough to begin to Find "inner" beauty.  (And frankly, if looking at them makes me nauseas, it's unlikely that I'm going to Want to spend time talking to their "potentially beautiful inner self.")

Honesty and being able to look at yourself critically are good qualities.

for me, and i think most people, looks are a factor, but what is inside the package is more important in the long run.

LOL

I think you have paraphrased the article very well, in much "earthier" tones. [:)]

"BEAUTY IS ONLY SKIN DEEP, BUT 'UGLY' GOES STRAIGHT TO THE BONE!!!"

I think there's a whole lot of people who would disagree...
Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart
~ Kahlil Gibran ~

Beauty is an experience, nothing else. It is not a fixed pattern or an arrangement of features. It is something felt, a glow or a communicated sense of fineness.
~ D. H. Lawrence ~

Whatever is in any way beautiful hath its source of beauty in itself, and is complete in itself; praise forms no part of it. So it is none the worse nor the better for being praised.
~ Marcus Aurelius Antoninus ~

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.
~ Albert Einstein ~

Beauty of whatever kind, in its supreme development, invariably excites the sensitive soul to tears.
~ Edgar Allen Poe ~

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched ... but are felt in the heart.
~ Helen Keller ~
If I find someone beautiful, it isn't necessarily because of what they look like on the outside.

Of course, as said by Jean Kerr... "I'm tired of all this nonsense about beauty being only skin-deep. That's deep enough. What do you want, an adorable pancreas?"  [;)]

And a bonus quote...

"Do you love me because I'm beautiful, or am I am beautiful because you love me?"
~ Oscar Hammerstein, II ~

Bite your tongue.  [:-]

uhh  mmm   [&o] ok

I'm thinking that maybe you don't realize that "bite your tongue" is an American expression meaning when you really want to say something, but know that you should not, it is best to "bite your tongue" to keep from speaking...
-and if you understood the idiom, my apologies..

Justme696 -> RE: New Hope For Ugly Men ... (5/17/2008 2:59:10 PM)

yes I understood it. But no need to apologies. Always kind when people try to explain things. Soemtimes it is needed with the language barrier.
Thank you anyway :)

(btw  I think I said it clear enough...lol)

The quote "Beauty is only skin deep, ugly goes right to the bone." I take to mean Beauty isn't as important as what is on the inside; that being said how do any of the authors of those quotes you mentioned beg to differ?
