I see Hillary Clinton in two ways; the Good Hillary, and Hillary the Politician.

If Good Hillary were to somehow be able to "exorcise" Politician Hillary, I'd be far more inclined to support her.

It's the old double standard.. being ambitious, driven and confident is desirable for a male seeking a leadership position..but a woman is seen as an uppity, conniving bitch.

I no longer hope for change with mankind.. I just pray they evolve, eventually.

Isn't evolution slow-paced change?

Just my gut feeling, but I dont think Hillary or Obama will be elected, the country just seems to not be ready to accept it, I see another republican, and I think its been engineered that way. yes Im election retarded, but its all so convenient but then Im a lil paranoid at times too.[:@]
Lucy

Lucy, I think you're right there.
The strategy of finding the candidate who's most to the Left and running them for Pres. hasn't worked very well for the Dems has it?
I have no problem with a female President.
I want a President who listens to the American People, not one who "dictates" to the American People and thinks that they," know better" than the American People.
Obama has already mentioned "genocides" and "Africa."
It's not our job to stop genocides in Africa.
The job title is; "President of the United States" not "President of the World."

Lashra -> RE: A woman in the White House (5/18/2008 12:10:28 PM)

One day there WILL be a woman in the white house it is inevitable because people want change and change for the better. Part of that change is killing the prejudice known as "sexism", its a slow death but it is happening just like "racism" and "intolerance". It will take time but it will happen as people evolve into a higher awareness and not so focused on the important matters of the brute human.

Is Hilary the one? I don't think so she has a lot of baggage with her, but someone else will come along.

Both men and women have cold demeanours and Hillary's seems pretty damn chilly to me.

That's exactly what I was saying.  If she were a man I would have still called her cold.  I love the way some people draw the sexism card whenever they disagree.  Apparently, trying to falsely label someone a sexist changes the reality that the woman in question is built with the people skills and caring of Kruschev.

rubberpet -> RE: A woman in the White House (5/18/2008 4:56:36 PM)

I'd vote for a woman for president if I thought she was the best candidate.  Hillary is far from that.

pahunkboy -> RE: A woman in the White House (5/18/2008 5:15:02 PM)

ron paul says medicare/caid is frought with waste and fraud.

i tend to beleive that....

Since when has it been a requirement for politicians to be warm and fluffy? Being a calculating bastard is a prerequisite, and Clinton is no exception. Many people accuse high-powered women of being 'cold' - it's such bullshit.

On this one, I agree with you completely... there's a tremendous double standard at work.

As for Hillary Clinton, I think she has far more "substance" in terms of functional policy knowledge than Obama does... however, I don't think that his triumph is entirely due to sexism... Hillary has just had the bad luck to run up against someone with overpowering oratorical skills and charisma (honestly, he has yet to demonstrate much else, IMHO, but he's still miles better than a McCain/Huckabee ticket).

kittinSol -> RE: A woman in the White House (5/18/2008 7:25:16 PM)

I knew we'd find some common ground somewhere :-) .

Smith117 -> RE: A woman in the White House (5/18/2008 8:43:44 PM)

Silly people. There's always been a woman in the white house. She's called the first lady.[:D]

Justme696 -> RE: A woman in the White House (5/19/2008 12:15:41 AM)

aren't there any females right now in the White house?

although i know a few will hate her just because she is a female, i think most folks can tell the difference between a woman who is ambitious, driven and confident and one who is an uppity conniving bitch.

clinton has always come off as more of the latter to me......just like john kerry did.  fact is, democrats are giving us shit for choices lately.

imho of course
