It stems from the age (17th century) where England and The Netherlands were competitors; hence Dutch Courage and the like in the English language.

    Many have stated good examples of male stereotypes. What I find funny, are those that are so against stereotypes, but then use them.

    As far as farting and burping, "better out than in I always say". Shrek is wise.
