The chip would be very handy Kittin - you know those security things they have at doorways into the stores to pick up shoplifters?

And in my general field of logistics, there's now technology by which to put satellite tracked chips into products, so one knows where they are at all times.

Link this to a database of who went to the Mosque on Friday, who voted which way at the election, who has a poor credit history due to the antics of some banker four thousand miles away and is now complaining about it.

I foresee two futures - one, where we wrest control of this country from megalomaniac nutters of the right and left, and one where in a sinister alliance, they unite against us and rule for a thousand year Reich.

The latter is more likely, and the sheeple will turn out to be chipped "for our own protection"

LadyE: if the powers that be knew that many Muslims hate the West dont you think its was a mistake to allow so many to enter the UK?
Only arskin.

And thats it in a nutshell Seeks; the right wing cry foul at immigration - when in fact they love it as it creates the "them and us" by which they thrive. The left wing welcome immigration as it creates the "them and us" by which they thrive.

We need a new politics in this country now - otherwise, those with vested interests in the situation they have engineered between them for mutual benefit, will unite and we will be either chipped or "enemies of the people".

Right. Why protest if you haven't done anything wrong? It's all for the common good.

Want some vinegar on your chips?

LE's perception is accurate.

Neither am I convinced that any muslim participated in the subway bombings. They were blamed for it, but there is no convincing evidence that they were the culprits. It seems to have been an MI-some-number operation.

I oppose these registrations, also as applies to cattle. Recall the numbering done by the Beast?

Well one reason could be that if a CCTV video is obtained of some vicious street crime then these photos could be scanned to see if the youths can be identified.

This will of course require profiling of those who are photographed..
I have no problem with that. Have you ?

Perhaps we should introduce profiling for admission to elected office?  That way, we could prevent unneccesary wars, corruption and misappropriation of funds by excluding the social groups most likely to commit these persistent offences.

We take photos of children, to eliminate them from enquiries - not because they might have done something.

That explanation does not fit the facts and works to a presumption of guilt rather than one of innocence.  This is at the heart of objections to profiling; the practice proceeds from a wholly contrary perspective to British legal ethics.  Why do social conservatives stress the importance of saving such values but disown them when those on the left ask that they be preserved?

If I thought this reply had even the teensiest weensiest merit I would be in favour of it. I dont, so I'm not.
Please try harder. I know you can do better. Some of your posts have been quite good but I would never admit that....evah!

Hey presto! In a few years time, all of England and Wales will be suitably archived. It's even possible to look for certain 'criminal genes': the authorities could put the future offenders under lock and key when they're still infants.

It's not all of England and Wales they seek to catalogue, just the poor -- ie those they deem most likely to commit crime.  If there is anything guaranteed to stifle aspiration in young people, its telling them that they are the enemy and haven't any place in society.  Its a good way of ensuring these suspicions bear fruit.

Here you go again with the nutty theories. One of the suicide bombers had even made a video. There is also plenty of forensic evidence.

What has the thread got to do with Muslims ? Its about police taking photos of innocent children ?

... its about Children in general and not Muslims in general.

Some see everything in terms of ethnicity and race.  Careful you don't get lumped in with them!

kittinSol -> RE: Cops and cameras (5/19/2008 10:43:11 AM)

Divide and conquer is the method of choice of right-wing populism, isn't it. Scapegoat people, make it impossible for them to achieve greater social and economic equality, and the fear mongerers can keep the cake all to themselves [>:] .

Politesub53 -> RE: Cops and cameras (5/19/2008 10:52:23 AM)

Seeks i wasnt on about profiling, i was on about taking photos of innocent kids. I see you didnt answer my question, as to whether you would be happy if it was you and yours being photographed. The key words here are "Innocent people"

Kittin, sadly there is a firm in the Uk installing chips under childrens skin. Parents are doing this incase the kids go missing. I am all for keeping kids safe but this could also have sinister implications.

Lady E in my first post i pointed out the law being used was called section 60, of the public order act. This was in force way before 9/11

You bet it could. So just like at the RSPA, aye? It's scary - tagging them like dogs... Aren't people overreacting a little?

Politesub53 -> RE: Cops and cameras (5/19/2008 11:22:41 AM)

Look on the brightside, when they are teenagers the cops will be able to find them easier, and no need for a photo. [;)]

RealityLicks -> RE: Cops and cameras (5/19/2008 11:38:36 AM)

Or maybe save time and put all the poor kids straight into workhouses at age four and let them earn their freedom?

Baffling that the same people complain at the nihilism of the young as would allow the erosion of their rights.  The kids are simultaneously programmed to be consumers and told they'll amount to nothing - know a better way to create the confusion in which values begin to drift and become pliable?

I don't know of a more Machavallian system: it's devised down to a tee [>:] .

RealityLicks -> RE: Cops and cameras (5/19/2008 12:03:58 PM)

Even worse than it being a conspiracy, I see this as being the result of the primacy of two central motives in our society: greed and the lust for power.

kittinSol -> RE: Cops and cameras (5/19/2008 12:07:13 PM)

Don't you just wish it stayed a conspiracy... the older I get, the more I despair.

Nihilism is starting to look like the only option.

As you said the key word is innocent. I note that the link is not very clear on the circumstances as to why lttle Jordan was photographed. On his way home from school it says. I'll bet. More like caught truanting.
Say the police had photos of someone in the area when Damilola Taylor was murdered, not likely but possible.. Dont you think that they might have caught the murderers a lot sooner?

note Many years ago I was put on a police list and that was only 'cos they found some mild BDSM porn in a non locked top box on my m/bike. So I know it goes on. Its how that info is secured and used thats critical.
I am not a blind supporter of the police. In some areas they have lost their way and become almost social workers or PC brigadiers.
They also are too keen to close motor ways to very little positive effect. Just thought "I'd throw that in"
