bmtphoenix -> slave diet (5/20/2008 3:32:00 PM)

I did some searching, but couldn't find anything that really matched what I wanted to do.

My slave desperately wants to lose weight.  I have had her exercise, but at 5'4" and a bit over 200lbs, she needs to lose some weight first before exercising too heavily.

I could put her on any diet I like and she would do it.  We work and live together, so she wouldn't have much opportunity to do anything else.  A 1200 Calorie a day diet did absoloutly nothing for her; in fact, she gained.  her doctor has assured us, via bloodwork, that there is no medical problem.

Have any of you guys put your slave on an extreme diet (with multivitamins of course) that worked?  Or any other suggestions?

i have a diet so to speak which is healthful and with the condition i have is sarcoidosis
if anyone wants it i will send u the link just email me

sirsholly -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 3:36:24 PM)

extreme diets are not safe.
a 1200 cal diet should have had her showing a weight loss provided there was no fluid retention secondary to her cycle or a medical reason such as an underactive thyroid. Are you sure she was following the diet?
As far as a safe effective diet...Weight Watchers is thought to be the best and can be done on-line.

katGS -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 3:42:27 PM)

At one point in my life I lost 110 lbs. But I did not do that via diet alone. You must add exercise into the equation.

There are many types of exercise your sub could do that are not strenuous. Exercise bike, swimming, and walking come to mind. But she must get her metabolic rate going in order to burn fat.

A basic 1200 a day calorie diet, and this means at times weighing portions, and a good exercise program will allow pounds to be shed over a period of time. This is not a lose weight quickly diet as those kinds of diets allow the weight to accumulate again.

You also might want to consult a dietician and enroll your sub in Weight Watchers where she will be educated on how to make healthy food choices in order to keep the weight off.

Well I need to lose some weight as well. I started with simple things that I knew would decrease the calories- no sodas was the first step. Then I restricted sweets and limited breads. I think the key in any diet is to drink lost of water , take a vitamin if it is needed and eat lost of fresh fruits and veggies, whole wheats etc. It may not be the calories that matter, it could be what kind of food the calories were. Some calories are not equal to others. I have really slacked on my moderations here and there, but the first week of giving up sodas I lost 5 pounds.. that was without exercise and eating whatever I wanted. Good luck to you both and share anything you may found out if you do get some info on a nice diet.

Calorie counting is not the only method. Most weight is fluid retention. Fluid retention is the result of food intolerances rather than excess calories.
research food intolerance.
What works for me is to sustain a healthy diet but for me, well I have to cut out refined sugar, wheat and cows milk wherever possible as these create swelling, bloating and fluid retention. I kniw many people who have developed similar intolerances and wheat, sugar and milk seem to be the worse culprits. If I comfort eat then I go running to those very things which I am most intolerant of.....always a bad method for emotional emptiness.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 3:45:14 PM)

everyones body is different and require a certain amount of calories to  work with.  1200 may not be enough for her.  the average for a person is 1600 - 2000 calories.

eating less does not make you lose weight.
at her size the best thing right now is a routine and good 2 mile walk.  (1 mile there 1 mile back) then more walk later.

i was  196 lbs in 1998 and in 2003 i was 125 lbs.  walking took most of it off.
with crunches and stretches.  i cant do any cardio what so ever.  that was the only way for me to exercise.

phoenixinchains -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 3:50:54 PM)

please don't take offense, as i mean none. if she gained weight on 1.200 calories a day, there might be a mental factor at play. how is she sleeping? have there been any recent changes to the norm ( new work shedual )? is there an outside stress factor ( ill family member )? is she depressed becuase of her weight?

before anything radical is done, i'd seek out any mental sabotage to the physical goal.

and advice stretches and yoga if possible. stretches condition the muscles to get to where they need to be in size, and it makes you feel better, which makes exocise easier. an added bonus might be the relaxing side effect of yoga. centering yourself makes it easier to focus on your goals.

hope this helps-

sweetsubPa -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 3:51:10 PM)

Hi there,

I just wanted to say that a 1200 calorie diet may not be the correct amount for her. There are charts that will tell you how many calories she should be taking in according to her height and exact weight. Research done on diets and programs rates weight watchers as the number one program. It teaches healthy habits and also is realistic. I would have her look into that. If she goes on a fad diet, it's both unhealthy and unattainable over the long haul. Also, there are surgical options, such as gatric bypass, and a less invasive option is lap banding. A lot of insurances are now covering these procedures. Good luck.

snappykappy -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 3:53:58 PM)

from what i am reading bout the sugar the white flour  milk and other stuff  but eating lots of veggies are always good

xbutterflyx -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 3:57:03 PM)

i lost 125 in 8 months and it wasn't the smartest way of going about it. i  maintained a1200 cal diet but also excercised twice every day.

Now, i still continue to try to watch what i eat, but not as strict...also my excercise has decreased and i have put 40 pounds back on...quickly.

So back at it..but back going slow.

Positive reinforcement is helping me get back on track.(grins). Having goals that are small and attainable and reinforced with positive rewards may help too.

lilabbotsfordgrl -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 3:59:58 PM)

The best way to be healthy is to learn about two things:
1) Health in general.
2) Your own body.
If you spend some time learning (this is hard for people without much self-discipline) then you will never have a problem with your weight.

daddysliloneds -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 4:06:59 PM)

dude, i don't doubt for a moment that she'd do everything you tell her to do in this circumstance, thus the reason for my next statement:

when the blind are trying to lead the blind, dangerous things can/do happen!

and with that said, i can recommend the perfect exercise:

swimming!

it's a no-impact, great for the cardio-vascular, slimming, trimming, and weight loss method for anyone, and even moreso with over-weight people.  how do i know?  i used to be a fat chick!  fat people float and it's easier for them to swim than many middle-weight, skinny people!  it's the resistance that is the kicker for a great workout!

if she couldn't make it across the pool one time without feeling like she's going to die, which was my problem when over-weight, then putting on fins and using a kick-board will allow her to haul ass across the pool, not feel like her legs are going to fall off, and not leave her too winded to go on, and still allow for a great work-out!

shit, even floating on her back and just doing a frog kick with a slight arm movement is going to burn off the fat while it slims!

as for the diet, now here's the deal, you are not qualified to be handing out strict diets of any sort; vitamins supplements included, so reach down into your pocket and pay a hospital dietician for recommendations.

other than that, stay away from the calorie counting and go with healthy and nutritious foods that are high in fiber, and remember, it's not necessarily the amount that you eat that will cause weight change, but more the kinds of foods that you eat!

CalifChick -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 4:11:41 PM)

It is my personal opinion (not expert, just my own theory) that not everybody's body functions the same way regarding food. Some people lose weight on 1200 calories of any kind.  Some people lose weight only when those 1200 calories are mostly protein and vegetables.

You and she have to find what works for her that makes her feel good. Some people feel great on a diet of only fruit.  It makes my blood sugar rise then plummet, leaving me shaky and hungry.  Some people feel great on a vegetarian diet.  It makes me feel tired and sluggish.  Some people feel great when they severely restrict carbohydrates (cut out mostly flour and sugar) - this is what works for me, I feel great, have lots of energy, and have lost a serious amount of weight in the last year. But it's not for everybody.

So yes, I believe it when you say that she was eating only 1200 calories and still gaining weight; it seems from that information that for her, the types of calories are more important than the actual number of calories.

KCherry -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 4:14:35 PM)

Well I am in the same boat so I will write what I am doing and I have lost 10 pounds so far so *Shrug*

I have cut out all meat except turkey and chicken for now.
I only eat turkey and chicken twice a week.
I am only allowed 1 serving of bread a week and it has to be whole wheat. (No white bread!!)
One meal a day has to be composed entirely of steamed veggies.
I am not allowed to add sugar or salt to anything!
I bought a filtered pitcher and fill it with 10 cups of water a day that I make myself finish.
I am not allowed any soda at all but I can have low fat milk once a week and any kind of veggie juice I want as long as it is 100%
(Carrot Juice is a good one for you)
If I snack during the day it cannot be more that 100 calories.
I do not eat after 6pm.
I do not skip meals.

Hope some of these things help. :)

Kalista07 -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 4:24:03 PM)

My experience in this area is no doubt much like many other people here. I actually saw a dietician last year and she said a 1200 calorie diet would not be nearly enough for me to lose weight.  At that time in my life i wasn't capable of eating more than that, psychologically. And i was walking nearly 2 miles everyday...But i kept gaining weight.
Now, i eat three times a day (NO MATTER WHAT!!!) i've begun losing weight. Why? Because my bod is finally convinced that i'm no longer trying to starve it.....  Secondly i recently joined curves. (which has a great online FREE program if you are interested) The other thing i recently did was i purchased a CBT based 'diet' solution book. The best thing about this book is it doesn't tell you what to eat at all...What it does is it challenges my negative self talk.
Please feel free to cmail me if i can help.
Kali

It’s not about calories.  When you starve calories the body goes into the winter fat storage mode.  It makes it even harder to drop fat and you can end up burning off muscle.

You can go on a high protein, low fat, low sugar diet of 4500 cals a day and lose weight.  Bodybuilders will eat up to 9,000 cals a day.  They aren’t fat.  It’s all about fats, sugar and what turns to fat.  Unlike sugar which readily turns to fat, Maltodextrin is like magic.  What your body doesn’t consume, you excrete.  Even green beans have sugar and bodybuilders often prefer broccoli for that reason.  Turkey breasts have very low fat content compared to the leanest beef or chicken.  Like the others in this thread, I suggest you do some serious research outside of CollarMe and stay away from fad diets.

bruisedballerina -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 4:27:34 PM)

I've seen some bad suggestions and some good ones as well as some totally unfair statements.

Someone I know personally used Jenny Craig and lost over 100 lbs. I would recommend that system to anyone because they'll work WITH her and teach her how to make the right choices over a period of time so that once she looses it, it stays off.

As for exercise, my personal choice was to purchase a removable dance pole from X-Pole and learn how to pole dance. You can burn up to 400 cals an hour and as you learn to do more advanced moves, you'll build some awesome upper body strength which will give her those super sexy curves. Depending on her age, some goals will be more realistic than others.

Tigrita -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 4:31:11 PM)

If you've been to a doctor about blood work to make sure there are no major metabolic problems, why don't you talk to that same doctor about an appropriate nutritional program or get a referral to a reputable registered dietitian or certified personal trainer?  If the diet she was gaining on  was from this doctor, they are still most qualified to evaluate why it wasn't working and to suggest changes.  Do you think taking nutritional advice from a bunch of internet lackeys is wise when it comes to your partner's health?  You only have one body.  Starvation diets are not the way to treat it.

Feel free to take this with a grain of salt, as I'm just another internet lackey, but I am a certified personal trainer, and can safely tell you that going below 1200 Cal/day for someone of her build would not be wise or necessary.  You need a certain amount of calories and nutrients (beyond a multivatamin) to maintain proper funcioning of your body including digetstion, sleep, brain function, muscle and bone health etc.; you can't live healthfully on 500 or even 1000 cal/day of bread and water and a multivitamin.

There are a few reasons why she may not have been loosing on 1200 Cal/day.  Most likey reasons being 1) mis-estimate of calories consumed; unless you are truly weighing and measuring everything, or eating only packaged single serving meals with nutrition info, you are probably underestimating how many calories are in servings of food.  2) Starvation response, where the body stores all the fat it can when calories are cut below reasonable levels, because it thinks it needs to live through a famine. 3) Slow-responding metabolism and just not following the right diet for long enough to work.  Remember that it is only safe to lose about 1.5 lb per week, so it is a lifestyle change and a journey, not an instant gratification process.

I'd also suggest that she add some really light exercise that can still make a difference in caloric expendature, metabolism, as well as strength and flexibility which will make increasing her exercise regimine easier once she has lost some of the impeding weight.  Just walking at a normal speed for a few minutes, a few times a day can introduce her body to physical and metabolic stimulation and get the ball rolling.  This is assuming there are no mobility or other health issues to consider about that.  But if she can relatively easily walk around to do daily activities, adding some short walks to her day would be a good plan.

Good luck to you both.  It is great that you want to help her be more active and healthy, it is the best thing one can do for their life-span and quality of life.

snappykappy -> RE: slave diet (5/20/2008 4:35:41 PM)

probably the most straight forward answer fromanyone on this forum subject is talk with ur doctor and use their knowledge and always go in with questions to find out answers that u would and want to know

as the saying goes if u want to have your car fixed take it to a auto mechanic not a plumber
the same thing goes if you want to talk about your health go to your doctor not joe scmukatelly on the street
