ORIGINAL: meatcleaver Don't you just love video heroes. Of course DomAviator was way up in the clouds and didn't have shit to worry about other than making sure his plane was pointing in the right direction. Maybe if he had a true taste of war such as seeing the whites of his enemies eyes or worse, being caught in the open and being shot at by someone he can't see, maybe he wouldn't have such a juvenile attitude about war. Oh yes, we were WAY up in the clouds.... Thats a GREAT way to get in under radar and the higher you are the better chance a missle could lock on or a gun could bracket you. In reality we came in at night, preferably in the total darkness of a moonless night, at altitudes between 50' and 500' AGL doing 500kts. We had absolutely nothing to worry about except pointing the plane in the right direction...LMFAO, yep thats right its not like we had to avoid terrain in the dark, while dodging SAM's , MiGs, AAA, and small arms fire from every peasant with a rifle. Its soooooooo easy to be a combat pilot.... Hmmmm, wonder why they dont let the enlisted do it? Oh thats right, we need them to be fighting the "real war"... In 1991 its not like the 100,000 sorties the pilots flew had any effect nope it was the 100 hours the ground troops spent stepping over corpses and rounding up prisoners so bombed into submission that they were surrendering to CNN crews.
