Nonsense! The Israelites built the pyramids, as slaves! The Church says so - so it must be true!

E

Nonsense, Wimpeys built the pyramids, thats why they took so long, and were way over budget.

Did any of the other dying and rising Godmen of Mediterranean cults 1000BC to 250AD, of which Christ is simply a Jewish form amongst exactly matching forms from all over the Mediterranean, save any of the people on other planets?

Would it matter to you?

The Good News BTW... transends any Church.

Which good news?  Are gas prices coming down?  Did someone find a cure for baldness?

JohnSteed1967 -> RE: Vatican says belief in aliens is not a sin (5/24/2008 10:32:03 AM)

Well, Now the Vatican says that aliens aren't a sin, HMMMMM well now there has been a prevalent theory by many that the ancient gods were really space aliens. What happens if they come back to Earth and start demanding Worship?

Cthulu LIVES!

JohnSteed1967 -> RE: Vatican says belief in aliens is not a sin (5/24/2008 10:33:57 AM)

Ever so slightly off topic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloop See Cthulu DOES LIVE!!!

bipolarber -> RE: Vatican says belief in aliens is not a sin (5/24/2008 5:27:31 PM)

I had this great dream once... I dreampt that God came down to Earth, and stood before us all... and the Pope and all the other "religious leaders" attempt to talk to the Supreme Being, asking what they can do to please his greatness... there is a long pause, and then God's voice booms out, covering the planet, his message instantly translated into every language, of every person, everywhere:

"HEY! WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO MY DINOSAURS? SHIT! I TURN MY BACK FOR A SECOND, AND THE IDIOT MAMMALS TAKE OVER AND SPOIL THE WHOLE FUCKING THING!!!!"

Of course it matters. If Jesus is the only true and unique Godman, and his sacrifice on the cross was real and effective, then it matters a great deal.

Thing is though, there were dozens of others that preceded and followed and were around at the time, for the followers of whom they were true, unique, real and effective. We're not talking prophets here, but Gods who were men in "pagan" cults of all cultures, who died and rose again, washing away the sin of their followers.

Why it also matters is to do with the time and place of the Jesus myth too, when we're talking about galactic salvation. Why the Earth? Why Jerusalem? Why 1975 or so Earth years ago?

Why not Alpha Centauri III, twenty thousand Earth years ago? If people on Earth prior to Jesus are damned until 33AD, then what of the countless trillions upon trillions of aliens who died twenty thousand Earth years ago on Alpha Centauri III?

And how do those living on Alpha Centauri III today, know about the death and apparent resurrection of someone who but for our own perverse history and the Roman emperor Constantine would have remained obscure at best and most likely forgotten even on this planet?

LE, good points.
I think "God" is more nature based.

At least now we can believe in aliens... (does that include their eggs, the facehuggers and the adults/queens?)

Because that was the time God chose.

LadyEllen -> RE: Vatican says belief in aliens is not a sin (5/26/2008 6:22:51 AM)

But FDD - are we then proposing that 33AD on Earth is effective throughout the galaxy, even on beings who had no idea what was going on and still dont? If we look into the idea of light cones, there is no way for us to communicate anything to many areas of the galaxy, nor for anything to be communicated to us.

Are we then to propose that time has no existence? And if so, then what does that mean for the geneology and timescales reported in the Bible?

What we must conclude is that Jesus is merely the Jewish form of a Godman cult that spanned the Mediterranean (and even into Scandinavia via Odin). This does not mean its untrue - for each one of those cults operates in the same way and has the same effects upon believers.

Which then makes possible for alike cults to be present throughout the galaxy, with the Godman going by different names in different places at different times - but all to the same effect. The names, places and times do not matter - it is the effect which matters.

Aliens = good.
Masterbation= sin
Enjoying sex = sin
Having a mind of your own= sin
Believing in God but not the image they choose for you = sin

Personally, I rather get the OK from the church to masterbate because you KNOW those priests gotta do something to relieve some tension. I wonder if they can now say the aliens made them do it as a reason for their sexual indecressions..... hmmmmmm......
