i am hoping the resourcefulness of the people on this board will help me.

Master has gone to New Orleans with a crew contracting for FEMA. The leader of the group had arranged for them to stay at a house of a friend, and for those with tents to camp on their land. That fell through as the truck caravan was between Baton Rouge and N.O.

At about 11 PM last night (Saturday), they found a warehouse that would let them stay there, and they set up. Many of them have tents up inside the warehouse. They found out this morning that they will be charged $20 per person per night to stay there, and that will come to about $600 a night.

Master called me and asked me to start networking a little. So, i am. *s*

There are about 30 men, and many of them have tents. They, ideally, want to camp for a couple of weeks, and then get RV's or travel trailers to stay in for the duration, which will be about 3 months.

Does anyone have resources for operating parks or campsites, or even shelters in the New Orleans Proper area?

i have some information from the Red Cross for them to track down after work M-F, but they are just service centers. i have also been through the New Orleans website and found the Hotels that are opening and accomodating emergency workers. They have those numbers right now.

i just can't find anything about parks or cabins or long term camping. The parks i called are closed. Master says the teams are of about 4 people each, and if they have to spread out, and stay in different places, that's fine. So long as the teams are together.

Considering FEMA simply told me i should try the Red Cross, they aren't going to be much help as far as even offering guidance for the people contracting to them.

Anyway, i am just hoping someone has better resources than myself here.

Thank you all so much.

They still aren't allowing work crews to stay on the cruise ships? I had read there were 3 docked and only workers could stay on them?

i remember the idea of cruise ships coming up, but the City's website about the rebuilding didn't say anything about them.

But thank you for that! When Master calls me tonight, i will suggest they look into that.

He says they will stay at the warehouse for at least a few days, while they figure out what to do. They start work tomorrow.

And i am so proud of Him! *l* i know. Gushy.
