RiotGirl -> Crazy (10/23/2005 12:58:51 PM)

Since there's a word debate going on about " bi " and the ever debate about submissive/slave/ and dominant equivilant.. i figured i'd throw my own out there.

Crazy vs Wierd

i've the debate going on at my job. Actually its not a debate, my definition stands and everyone accepts it = )

My boss is just plain wierd

and i am crazy

Crazy's ok.. good stuff. Its normal with abit of excitment

Wierd is not normal. Its just plain wierd

And we're not getting into the normal debate as there really isnt a "normal" mode out there. But wierd is like not even in left field. Being in left field is ok too. = )

though i did make the mistake of calling my boss crazy (which he heartily agree's i shouldnt be calling a boss crazy. He MUST not of known it was an accidental compliment!) but he's wierd

Soooo your thoughts?

Wierd vs Crazy?

IronBear -> RE: Crazy (10/23/2005 5:53:47 PM)

Can I claim to be wierdly crazy????

CalliopePurple -> RE: Crazy (10/23/2005 11:10:58 PM)

I'm just fucking nuts, especially since I'm not medicated at the moment.

Not directly what you asked, but I've always thought that the difference between crazy and eccentric is the possession of a massive amount of money. If you're poor, you're crazy, if you're independently wealthy you're " delightfully eccentric".

Crazy for me is out of control, unable to handle and adapt to situations.

Weird is just "off center" and on a different perspective.

Do I care? There are many other labels out there that are wrong, why should I bother with something harmless?

pinkpleasures -> RE: Crazy (10/26/2005 9:24:47 AM)

Crazy to me indicates a mental illness, possibly one brought on by stress and that will pass off as the situation changes. For example, when my son died, i was crazy with grief; but even pain so deep eventually weaves itself into the fabric of your life and you become a different, but normal, person.

Weird to me is an insult meant to cast the target out; we are all gonna agree not to hang out with him, not to sit with him at lunch, not to attend any party he may give. It ostracising someone, to me, and i think we should be more accepting of the off-beat personalities we encounter.

That said, i have had a few terrible bosses, who pushed for things and then punished when they were obtained...etc. Such people are generally massively insecure and terribly frightened of any decision coming back to haunt them. i suppose the struggling economy has made more such bosses, as they fear being let go.
