Status: offline 		You all know that guy on TV ads that advertises his social security number and claims his system is secure and your identity cant be stolen? He calls it "LifeLock"...

Well...His identity got stolen... And some of his customers are suing him claiming the system he advertises doesnt work.

Status: offline 		It is not really a scam. There is nothing absolute: every protection has flaws. I think credit companies and loan operators should take 100% loss. It is their job to make their product secure. Social security number was never meant to be used for identification purposes.

His ads never claimed that your identity can't, or even won't be stolen...what he claimed was, that if you subscribe to his service...AND... your identity is stolen...his firm will pay up to $1,000,000.00 towards the reconstruction of your credit.

It is their job to make their product secure, but I doubt they can make it idiot-proof.  My info is most likely to be compromised by something that I do, like getting suckered in by a phishing email or throwing documents with my financial information into the trash.  I don't think that the credit and loan folks should pay for that.

i wonder if this guy can now collect 1mil ?

-speaking of ss,  last week- i had to straighten out a snafu.   the clerk would not call it ID theft, but 2 competing computer programs, the one being phazed out is causing trouble.

Amazingly enough, I, barely a high school graduate, got something else out of his ads...i.e., that it was protection against...not a full guarentee.
