Irishknight -> RE: Dutch scientists claim sequencing of female DNA (5/27/2008 5:52:59 PM)

I am Irish and thats why I can't start until the afternoon.  Get me to drinking and I'll be off having a good time and forget what I'm supposed to be doing.

But I'll not turn down good whiskey.  Thanx.

"Too early"??????

And you call yourself Irish.....[image]http://www.collarchat.com/image/s2.gif[/image]

Myself, I'm Scots, and we hate to drink alone!  (hands IrishKnight a glass and signals for cjan to fill his glass too)

Yeth, Mathster.

*turns his back to celticlord, quietly unzips and fills up a pint glass*

How about a nice pint o' brew to wash that down, m'lord ?

If your "brew" is dark enough to pass for acceptable ale, you have some serious health issues......

Besides....mix ale with whisky?  Horrors!!!!!!!

cjan -> RE: Dutch scientists claim sequencing of female DNA (5/27/2008 6:35:43 PM)

I'm a southern boy. I drink Jack Daniels, tyvm. And a cold brewski makes a nice back, occasionally.

Ah, see, now "whisky" properly should suggest a single malt, preferably a Speyside.

cjan -> RE: Dutch scientists claim sequencing of female DNA (5/27/2008 7:12:36 PM)

'round these parts, m'lord, us mens drinks sour mash whiskey. It says "whiskey" right on der bottle. The ladies drink Scotch, single malt, wif their pinky fingers raised. We save the good sippin' whiskey for our ownselves.

In the Celticlord Lexicon of Liquors, "good sippin' whiskey" equates to Talisker or Loch Du.

Oh, have some whisky! Whisky makes sense out of everything!

Irishknight -> RE: Dutch scientists claim sequencing of female DNA (5/27/2008 7:51:54 PM)

I've had some fine Scottish whiskey in my time.  I've drunk myself half to death when Jack Daniels came to visit.  I'll take Irish whiskey over either of them.  Of course, i may forget the Irish whiskey if there is a bottle of to-kill-ya in the house.

Irish not bad.  Bushmill's is an estimable distillation.  Not as estimable as Glenlivet or Glenfiddich, but quite drinkable.

Ah, Jack...many's the day (and night) I've spent in his company....although given my druthers (and they are MY druthers, so I better be given 'em)  I'd spend time with my good buddies Elmer T. Lee or James (Jim) Beam.  You might know them...they both live near some other guys on Knob Creek?   Sometimes I've even looked over his shoulder as Johnny Walker read.  And the guy I really can't take?   That oh so friendly soul from south of the border, Jose Cuervo.

E.

By the way, Lady E, cjan?   As the Buddah said to the hot dog vendor, and the hot dog vendor said right back to the Buddah   "Make me one with everything."

Cjan...in your case it might be what you say to the enlightened Italian Beef  vendor.

And Irishknight....WHAT poteen are you drinking?  Think carefully, now, lad...for if you answer one way, the Catholics will be at you, and if you answer another way, the Prots will be on you.

cjan -> RE: Dutch scientists claim sequencing of female DNA (5/27/2008 8:30:05 PM)

Well said, E. I tip my sombrero to ya. In fact, of late, I've come to appreciate Mr. Beam more so than in the past. He's a bargain in the , ummm bargain. And yes, Jose is a dear friend of mine. He tends to make the ladies' clothes fall off as an added benefit.

You are correct too, sir, I long to say those very words to the Italian beef vendor. "Make me one with everyting". Nirvana...

They both hate me anyway. I'm pagan.

Emperor1956 -> RE: Dutch scientists claim sequencing of female DNA (5/27/2008 8:42:25 PM)

Well then boyo, join me in a shot of Powers, the Irish poteen that Jews and Pagans love to drink!

I like Powers.  Its pure.  Its simple.  Its cheap(er).   I used to drink Jamesons.  And then again, Black Bush has some charm.  But all in all, give me a good Irish pub (NOT these synthetic ones like Fado that are Disneyfying an honest drinking man's scene) and a shot or seven of Powers.

There is a legendary Irish whiskey,  Green Spot.  100%  pot still and available only from one store, Mitchell & Son's, in Dublin.  I've not yet had a taste.  Until then, if I'm drinking Irish, give me Powers.

E

Having read through the last page and a half, it's become clear to me that this thread has taken on a vastly more intelligent tone....which is....good liquor!

And the one thing that can make women make more sense (the original intent of this post)...in my book...is MORE LIQUOR!!!!!!)

Here here.....so, Gris, what's your pleasure?  Talisker, Jameson's, Powers, Glenlivet?  Which side of the Muir Eireann do you prefer your potables?

Crown, straight up...on the rocks...with a little Sinatra in the background while I'm going over all my office paperwork.

(Ain't nuttin better [8D] )

Irishknight -> RE: Dutch scientists claim sequencing of female DNA (5/28/2008 6:41:21 AM)

So it is agreed that women need a good licker ... liquor .. maybe both.

Emperor, I really like Jamesons.  A friend gave me some for my birthday last year.  I've never had Powers but now I'm going to have to give it a try.  Green Spot sounds like something I would want if I ever win one of those big jousting competitions that are springing up all over the country.

Half empty or half full? its a bloody dirty glass...(housewifes theory)

Now that's a well-trained housewife.

[sm=rofl.gif]If I was a well trained housewife, it would be a clean, put away glass or refilled[sm=marionette.gif]
My only domestic quality is that I live in a house.

To the liquor post, Im partial to a glen morangie(no ice no water ...its sacrilige) the only thing that should go with a malt is more of the same.
Lucy
