Willowmoon -> Rope - What lengths to cut it in. (5/26/2008 8:27:31 PM)

Hi everyone.
I am thinking of getting Master some new rope for his Birthday as he has told me that there is lots of things he wants to try with me rope wise but I have no idea what lengths to get it cut too.

1. I am a larger girl so I know I will need a little longer then smaller girls.
2. Master wants to be able to do pretty body harnesses as well as the usual hog ties, wrist/ankle ties, breat bondage and some face bondage. What are good lengths for these things?

At the moment I am thinking of getting 150ft and getting it cut into one 50 or 60ft rope (Harnesses), 4 X 10 ft (For simple wrist/ankle ties) and 2 X 30ft ties. Does this sound like a useful assortment of lengths?

Many regards
WillowMoon

if your giving it as a gift allow the person getting it to cut it ..

I wanted to get it cut first so that I can whip the ends and mark the middle sections of the ropes just like Master likes them that way he can use them straight away instead of either having to wait for a chance to get me to do them or find the time to do them himself.

What a sweetheart you are!  I wish s would buy rope for me!
I think the 10feet lengths to tie wrists might be a little long.  A couple feet should tie wrists or ankles together fairly well.  But 10 foot lengths would be useful too.  Maybe 4 x 2 or 3 foot lengths, a couple 10 foot lengths, and then some bigger ones for harnesses and such.  Have fun :D

10 foot is the minimum lenght rope you want, some even say thats too short.

If you do want a long length to do body harnesses with, and are set on buying 150'.

1 x 50'
2 x 30'
2 x 15'
1 x 10'

If you dont mind adding pieces of rope together to make the body harness.

3 x 30'
4 x 15'

Marking the middle really isnt needed, some people like it, I think it makes the rope ugly.  I coil my rope so I always know where the middle is when I uncoil it.

What style of bondage is your partner into? Western or Japanese oriented? If you don't know the answer to that question, let him cut it.

No particular style he does what is pleasing to him and takes from both styles.

The general rule I give is 'double double double'.

Take the armspan of the person who is going to be getting tied. Double that number for a good short length useful for single limb cuffs and tied to the bedposts. Double THAT number for a good medium length useful for hogties or rope bras. Double THAT length for agood long length useful for rope dresses or corsets.

The average span of a person with arms outstreched is between 5 and 6 feet (usualy the same as height by the way). So this would make short length 10-12, medium lengths 20-24 and long lengths 40-48.

Sn0b's lengths are pretty dead on for 150'

Without that strict of a length dead set at 150' I'd probably go with
1x50'
2x25'
4x15'

or

1x50'
1x30'
2x20'
2x15' or 3x10'
