It's going to get to be a small, small world if we're not going to be able to fly...

Luggage fees were only the beginning. How many of us here fly regularly or even semi-regularly? And yes, this has inspired me to go make poll over Polls & Random Stupidity.....  I'm curious now... That and I fly too much!

Hello Lady Rainfire, Im searching out flights from Toronto to WashingtonDC right now for a trip to my pet, the cheapest flight is 577$
here is the breakdown

Flight 1 - Departing airfare 180.00
Flight 2 - Returning airfare  180.00
Surcharges (fuel $50 each way, NAV  $7.50each way)$115.00
Taxes, Fees and Charges
Canada Airport Improvement Fee 20.00
U.S.A Transportation Tax US30.44
U.S Agriculture Fee $4.94
Air Travellers Security Charge$7.94
U.S Passenger Facility Charge$4.45
Canada Goods and Services Tax $25.15
September 11 Security Fee $2.47
U.S.A Immigration User Fee$6.92
Total airfare and taxes  577.31

Im pulling my hair out, oh to be able to drive and have a car, bugger the gas prices I would drive down, but flying isnt fun anymore at those prices. And I usually take two checked bags with me, but at 25$ extra takes it over 600.
Anyone drive from TO to DC on a regular occasion and care to share .. Ill pay for the gas, food, etc?? ah well it was worth a try, yeah im a bit frusty right now lol
Lucy
Edited to tidy up the list

Lucy, I'm going to Saint Catharines this Friday, and what I found is that it is a LOT cheaper to fly into Buffalo then rent a car and drive into Canada. When I was getting my ticket, prices where going to cost me $770 US to fly into Toronto but only $440 into Buffalo. So any chance of looking into going into Buffalo and then driving to Toronto? It's only a couple of hours of driving up the QEW around the lake to Toronto.

*laughs*

I can relate. My trip is one-way, I'm moving out to be with Lumus. Thankfully you have a much more developed rail system out east, it's not an option here. Flying is really the only option for the distance involved for me. Oh well, I enjoy flying! And the end result is well worth it!
