I know that you are not supposed to have anything with sugar near the vaginal opening because of yeast, or if you do clean very well... but what about alcohol?

Would having a liquour dripped over (and licked off) cause the same?  And isn't there something you can do about this- rinse it all out afterwards?  Eat more yogurt?

Hmmm?

What type of liquor? Something pure like everclear? should be no problem.  Something that has additional ingredients? Not so much.

There is a lot of sugar in alcohol, and yeast feeds off sugar (as well as other things).  If it's something you want to engage in periodically, take probiotics for about a week before and a week after the activity.  You can typically find probiotics (acidophilus, bifodophilus, etc.) at your local health food store.  Yogurt probably doesn't have enough live cultures to make the difference you need, and it typically contains added sugar which can exacerbate the problem.  I would avoid pouring liquor into yourself, but I think pouring over, and with probiotics, you should be ok.

I'm not in the medical field in any way, but the above is based on personal knowledge and experiences.

Using alcohol is no different to using any food or drink.  It can cause negative and unwelcome effects, but then, so can sexual intercourse itself.  It's up to you to decide what risks you take.  OG gave some good advice.  I would not recommend douching or 'rinsing out' unless specified by a medical practioner as that can cause more problems in itself - particularly the over the counter types.  If your doc recommends douching, they will also let you know the ones to use.

Most strong alcoholic liquors will kill yeast, after all the liquor must be distilled due to the fact that the yeasts all die after reaching a specific alcohol concentration.

However many liquors contain sugar to sweeten them and that can lead to an overgrowth of vaginal floura. Not too mention that strong alcohol on the snesitive bits can really burn. If you like that then great, but if not be warned.

Take a look at the ingredients on the label and see what's there before you play with it.

As was said earlier, pouring over and licking off is no big deal, but be a little more careful of what you let inside.

alchohol is made by yeast fermentation.

There are lots of good natural products at health food stores. In addition to taking a probiotic there are also pills that help control yeast in the body as well as boric acid suppositories. I do know that yeast grows in a neutral ph and the boric acid suppositories change the ph level in the vagina.

That's true for Beer and Wine, but liquors are made by distillation. The alcohol content in liquor is deadly to yeast and most bacteria. Alcohol is the yeasts waste product (just remember that when having your booze, it's flavored yeast pee) and around 12% or so becomes toxic to the yeast. So introducing an 80% alcohol product into the vagina can kill off beneficial yeast populations.

this is true.the alcohol in beer is yeast urine, and yeast cannot live about something around 12%. I dont know the exact number, but that sounds close. yeast living in 12% alcahol is like us living knee deep in urine.

I cannot say about alcahol killing usefull yeast I just dont know...

Thanks!

I've been doing more research- and it seems like most liquours which tend to be more viscous are safe for any "outside" bits.  They can be sucked off clits and cocks with abandon as long as nothing goes up the urethra- and if the players involved drink liter of water before hand, then they can "clear the tubes" which usually is better.

The probiotics spoken of are brilliant (Thanks for that!!!).  So if the idea is to suck it out, that isn't such a bad idea if it is a shorter play scene (sugar and alcohol are in the vagina for less than 10 minutes) if you have been taking probiotics for thre days before and if everything is rinsed out with clear water afterwards; it should be okay. No douche, just clear water.

From what I can tell- with the exception of forcing a air bubble up the cervix (which is very, very rare), the only thing you really risk is a yeast infection, which can be cured with a single dose of monistat...

Several Orgasms are definitely worth a trip to the pharmacist if need be.

Hugs to all.

fungasm,

I will probably be slammed by many others for what I am about to say, but so be it.  I have incorporated food and fluids in play with most of the women that I have been with.  I have used chocolates, bananas, strawberries, grapes, champagne, wine, etc. for enjoyment.  I will leave it to your imagination on how I used these items.  All of them with the e3xception of one did not have any issues with developing a yeast infection afterwards.  The one that did I just made it a point not to have that kind of play with her any longer.  Everyone's body chemistry is different and they will react differently to the use of foods and or alchohol.  Many will probably not agree with me and I will read about it, but try it.  If you develop a yeast infection then don't do it again, unless you enjoy yeast infections.

Waiting for the slamming to begin.....

christine1 -> RE: Liquours and yeast infections (6/1/2008 3:51:19 PM)

no slamming here bikerDom....i've used food for years and had it used inside of me many times and i've never had a problem, but i'm not prone to yeast infections either.  i love food play but i know there are those that have more sensitive balances so they are better off not doing it at all.

i don't see a reason for anyone to slam one side or the other.   if you can do it, great...if you can't, that's great too.  as long as you know your body and what it can handle then i don't see a problem.
