This is a bona fide real question - so, I'm asking for real answers, not the fantasy wish stuff.

Sir and I started to get into needle play about 2 years ago, and our supply ran dry shortly after. You used to be able to buy kink medical supplies on line, but after the incident at the NELA winter event when the cops siezed a vendor's needles, the vendor stopped selling at events and online.

So, does anyone know how to obtain needles for needle play safely on the internet?

Thanks.

make friends with a nurse. surg tech, doctor, etc. My girl is a surg tech, she can grab them by the handful, but unfortunately she is not into them, so we collect them for use on my wife.

gosh i know i will regret this: making a first post asking the dumb question, but I can't resist. I've seen needle play.  I should have asked the expert performing but I didn't.
Why are the needles required to be medical needles?  Brand new surgical steel sewing needles, properly sterilized--are they not sufficiently sharp or are there other safety concerns, perhaps just trust issues? An adept embroiderer, I immediately thought of fascinating ways to tie the "eyes" besides the common feathers.

Ms. Milgrove, welcome to the boards. It's nice to see you busted your board cherry on my thread ~grin~

Unfortunately I don't have the answer for you - I wish I did. I do know that the needles we play with are fairly thick, as opposed to sewing needles. You buy medical needles by guage and we were playing in the 20-22 guage area. I also believe that medical needles are hollow, but I'm not sure why that's important here.

Hopefully we've sufficiently bumped this up and we'll get some answers.

Take care,
PL

Fast Reply...

www.kinkymedical.net

They were at KinkFest 2008, and I've ordered from them and had fast delivery. Being Left Coast USA, obviously your delivery mileage may vary.

dont use sewing needles or safety needles. the medical needles are made to exacting standards, sterile, sharper, sterile, smoother, sterile. did I mention sterile?

another thing,,, do not reuse needles, even on the same person, there is a small skin tag left in the needle plus its dulled some, and its not sterile anymore.

in for a penny .. in for a pound.
Ty for explaining-smoother makes sense.  Assumed a one-time use over both sharpness and sterility and viewed used needles being deposited in "sharps" container immediately after use.  Also discover that the medical needles (per the links above) are very inexpensive relative to sewing.
So.. next query:  without an "eye". how do you attach such things as the tied feathers? Even tho I was viewing at extreme closeup .. the needles inserted.. I could not figure out how they were tied.  Ty again.  Ms. Millgrove

Your local feed and tack store should carry needles. If they sell the vaccines for animals then they have to sell the syringes and needles. Just a thought. They are all sealed and sterile. Just a thought. If you pick up a couple of syringes then they just think you have alot of pet. LOL

Check with your local pet feed and supply store. my MaDam and i get our needles there. They sell them there in bulk for giving injections to animals, usually to farmers..and it generally runs about $25.00 a box give or take. Naturally we dont tell them exactly WHY we want them...and they have not asked...just what gauge we want. There are also various sites online you can order them from.

Good luck with your search~

Okay, for why not to use sewing needles. Two reasons.

One, sewing needles are tapered to a point in the center. This means that they punch a hole through the skin, then force it wider. Piercing needles are hollow and cut on a bias. This means that they actually slice a hole through the skin. Slicing is less traumatic, faster to heal, less likely to cause unwanted scarring.

Two, medical needles are surgical stainless steel. Cheap sewing needles are chrome-plated steel- this means that they contain chrome, copper and nickel, all of which are far more likely to cause allergic reactions than a surgical stainless alloy. It also means that this plating can flake off and be left behind in the body of the piercee, which is not good at all.
