"Earle H. Hagen, the Emmy Award-winning television composer who wrote the memorable theme music for "The Andy Griffith Show","The Dick Van Dyke Show," "I Spy" and other classic TV programs, has died. He was 88. ..."

Mr. Hagen was far too modest.... Harlem Nocturne alone would have been a legacy to be envied. Another great loss.

How many times have I gone through a day, with "Down by the Swimmin' Hole" stuck in my head? Or heard the theme from the "Mod Squad" as I was walking around downtown? I agree with the title of this thread... everyone knows his work, but not always the name. He's right up there with Vic Mizzy, and the early work of Bernard Hermann.

I'm hoping his passing will inspire someone from Varese Sarabande, or even Percepto Records, to put out a collection.

What a great idea.

I've got Mod Squad in my head now. :)

Right on, Alumbrado.  That's one sexy tune.

There's an idea.

They could call it, "All The Songs You Never Want Stuck In Your Head"

or "Sadistic Songs To Torture Your Submissives By"

If you'll excuse me I'll just walk away from this thread now, whistling the theme to the Andy Griffith show...
