"Hi I'm Tom and I'm a Sex Addict!"
"Oops,...............................................................wrong meeting."

this slave is well aware that the medical community hasn't come up with a fancy "Syndrome" name for what they have recently come up with for women...yet.  before they came up with "Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome" to describe what we experience, what do you think folks called it?  "sex-addict" or "nymphomaniac", which is incorrect.

he gave an example in his OP---NOT connected with thinking sexual thoughts or being in a sexual situation...or did you happen to miss that part?

The medical community does have a name for a similar condition, which I pointed out.  Priapism would be comparable.  The condition in the article you provided is a physiological condition.  The OP said he was horny and "thinking about fun" all day.  What he described is a consistent preoccupation with sex, not inconvenient genital arousal.  The example you seized upon did not sound like an inconvenient erection to me.  It sounded like a feeling of emptyness during a intimate (not sexual) moment.  Addicts have a hard time distinguishing intimacy with sexuality.  I did not miss what he said.  I read the entirety of his post rather than taking one sentence out of context, which is what you did.

Irishknight -> RE: Anyone else constantly horny? (5/29/2008 12:22:28 PM)

I had this same problem.  The name we gave it was the late 80s. I had a similar problem later.  We called it the 90s.

Yep.

I keep looking online for a downloadable sex drive or manual that will tell me where the off button is.  If people only came with user manuals or downloadable recovery options life would be so much better.

Mercnbeth -> RE: Anyone else constantly horny? (5/29/2008 12:43:03 PM)

Having difficulty determining if the OP is complaining or bragging.

quote:

So, are there any of you out there like me or, like I suspect, am I just nuts?
And this makes a difference - how?

The establishment 'medical community' argument is weak considering that not so long ago that same community defined homosexuality as a disease. Is that a source anyone would want to use to validate what is, and isn't, 'excessive' when it comes to sexual arousal? If you like I can offer information from that same source dated at the start of the 20th century that said that masturbation and/or any female arousal was an indication of disease. Now 'progressive thinking' has moved on to try and set acceptable limits and standards. The physiological counseling industry has got to be the best annuity business opportunity in the 'professional' world. The 'cure' for most of their syndrome and diseases is death. Until then you need to see the counselor at least twice a month and/or take this drug. DAMN! I wish I had clients who accept as fact that they need to keep seeing me, or using a drug forever that I prescribe and get a kick-back from the manufacture in order to function.

Every night beth and I joke about the pharmaceutical industry's commercials wondering what came first the pill or the disease. This situation is a case in point.

Two 'cures' are possible. One - self control; maybe take a hobby or something else to do with your hands. Knitting? Crocheting?

Two - compatible partner; I was accused of being similarly diseased by quite a few of my former partners, including an ex-wife. Then I discovered the  'red-head cure'. And no - we didn't meet at a sex-alolic's anonymous meeting. Since then we have learned to accept, and throughly enjoy our common 'syndrome'. If I only knew sooner I wouldn't have wasted the first 44 years of my life feeling like a social pariah.

The situation can be attributed to the 'its not my fault' syndrome for any personal problem or issue. Still waiting for a drug company commercial for that disease, but I'm afraid its become so acceptable it is incurable.

I've discovered that one of the few perks of hitting forty ([&:]) is that I am constantly horny.  And I get wet really easy.  It's all good!  Was that too much info?

Imo, women hit their "peak" in their 40's., in every way. They are smarter, better looking. have a better and more twisted sense of humor, are sexier and hornier. They also know what they want and what they don't want ( generally ).. That's why I'ved lubbed 'em since I was a lad.

Wow, lots of response! I'll start at the top and attempt to condense!

About stress and everyday life: thats the thing, it doesnt make a difference. at all.

DomAviator: The navy just got interesting!

About hobbies: I surf, fish, take karate, exercise, play with my rope....Sometime surfing centers me enough to quell it for a time, but not for long; and after I fight and the meloncholy wears off, Im off the charts!

I waasnt sure about the extra chromosome, but thought there may have been a positive correlation. Addiction never crossed my mind, honestly.

Angelika: Im quite certain my brain cells have been suffering for it!

Blush: It may have something to do with an addictive personality, but thats the only thing that Ive ever had issue with.

As far as the endo goes, what could they do besides giving me some manner of drug for it?

Inconvenient genital arousal sometimes can be an issue, but it really is mostly internal.  Today was the first day of my job and I lost about 20mins of training because in my mind I had this cute waitress tied on a cross and I was carving patterns across her back with a scalpel.  My god she  had GORGEOUS lines!

Michael: Sex is not overrated when youre not getting any!

Mercnbeth: I tried the redheaded solution and she was a close senond to my most recent ex.  That red devil gave me free reign for about 6mos before she finally called no joy.

As far as the 40 thing goes, Ive always gone after younger women; I may need to reconsider!

And Im certainly not bragging, but I dont know if complaining is it, either.

What I have noticed, now that Im single, is that my urges, desire, and fantasies tend to be much harder and violent.  Weird.
I enjoyed reading the post, thanks everyone!

IF too much testosterone causes brain damage you might want to consider medication..if something is available.

Also if you are having pervasive thoughts that are interfering with your life...you probably should consider seeing a therapist.

DesFIP -> RE: Anyone else constantly horny? (5/30/2008 10:14:30 AM)

You have been offered several good suggestions. I always suggest people get checked out physically before they assume the problem is mental or emotional. As far as what an endocrinologist can do, first he would run blood tests, and then if they came back abnormal you would probably be sent for CT scans or MRI to determine there was not a benign tumor causing this.

If the hormonal scans are normal, then the next step is to try an appropriate 12 step group in your area.

Because if this is causing your relationships to implode and negatively impacting your ability to hold a job by drastically lowering your productivity, then it's past time to get it fixed.

FRSguy -> RE: Anyone else constantly horny? (5/30/2008 12:27:09 PM)

Ignorantly recognized,

There is a huge debate about it... a lot of psyches look at it the same as being adicted to food and therefore cant be treated the same... should be intresting if it shows up in the new edition of that book they are working on that has all the diagnostics on disorders.. I also heard that in the latest msn servey the last I looked 70% said that S&M was normal... what a switch...lol
