What do y'all think about the bondage pants by Tripp and other brands, normally sold at Hot Topics?

i like mine, but feel they draw too much attention in public, and aren't quite as fem' as i'd prefer... However i got them as for Master's pleasure, and He loves them on me, and the ability to grab the straps of my bum, or rearrange straps from one pair to the other... well, He finds many fun things to do with them.

Love 'em, like 'em, hate 'em? Don't care? Good on one gender but not the other?

Before I knew what bondage was, all I knew about bondage pants was that they had straps that hung off them. I think that's how most people see them, or just some kind of "goth" style.

I personally like them on girls, especially when the straps come down around their buttcheeks... on guys they start to look like clowns from the "juggalo" scene a little too often. As actual fetish wear I guess they're alright, paired with a corset and lots and lots of fishnet!

I wear them, Lip Service is better quality then Tripp and most others. I don't wear them as much as I used to. The problem with hitting the latter end of college is one has to start internships and I don't they like that look. [8D]

Tripp is ok, but the quality is crap, as is most of the other overpriced stuff sold by hot topic. Lip service is much better quality, but when I wore pants like those, I'd make my own, especially since I have to get long pants anyway, and Tripp and LS run a little on the short and wide side. It's simple enough to get a tailor to sew some extra straps or rings onto a pair of pants you have already.

I had some amazing ones I used to wear to events, but I can't find the pictures.

I personally like them, but I am a bit of goth =)  Go for it.

Ok, bondage pants are NOT GOTH! Vivienne Westwood ran an S&m shop on the Kings Road in the Seventies with Malcolm McLauren- who started the Sex Pistols as a sort of political project. I don't know if the pants are completely Westwoods work or not, (her hand was all over the look, pink hair?) but they're original British punk. Look at the Sex Pistols, they wear them. So did Knick Knox of the Cramps, ect.
Historically- Goth was something some people did as getting dressed to go out on Saturday night post punk and early Thatcher. For about a year. It seems to be a marketing term now.

If it's in Hot Topic, it's a crap falling apart copy of something with a rich not-goth history being called such. I've been and looked. Bondage pants are very much menswear, but then the original mini skirt and torn fishnets look was the punk girl look. The easier to screw backstage at shows [:D] You can get much better quality bondage britches, but not having shopped for britpunk in many years I don't know where. My brother is a 40 something proffesional and still wears them, but his are bespoke. The body type is starving teenage heroin addict, VERY skinny! And hard to fit.
If you don't know who Vivienne Westwood is- Wiki! Betsey Johnson for London. But made even more money, and more cultural influence. Wonderful things with black leather! If S&m women have a modern fashion influence, look there.
About 60% of what's in that Hot Topic place is 70's punk, a big chunk of mainstream '80's, and some recent cartoon character rip offs. History is cool to know. The music was pretty fine too.
Those studded bracelets? The '70's punk people wore cock straps as jewelry. Old leather ones are high quality and very useable, heh heh... Backstage st shows.

I have purchased my fetish leather wear from Northbound Leathers in Toronto, Canada. Very good quality leather wear.  Check them out at

i've bought quite a bit of tripp pants and skirts. mostly from hot topic. they have survived being stolen by UM who then trades with her friends . i also have about 3 corsets that get quite a workout when i wear them for Him.

I have a pair by Tripp, I like mine. Though they are a bit too long and big now. They are fine for either gender and personally find them attractive on women. Noone (at least in my experience) will think they are more than a trendy pair of pants. In fact the only comments I've ever had about mine are, "Where did you get those pants? or "I like your pants."

TheShadows -> RE: Bondage Pants/ Fashion (6/18/2008 12:30:03 PM)

"Strappy Pants", as I call them, make up the better part of my "event-type" clothing.  I don't call it "fetish clothing", as that's not what it's about for me.  They're baggy, easy to move in, and they look good.  Being the Female of a Dominant Couple, they're pants that both my Husband and I can wear, and still look neat and put together.  I have 3 pair of Tripps and haven't had a problem with the quality.  I also wear mine out in public, and don't get a second look most of the time.  I love them and think they look great on any gender.

As always, YMMV...
