Having enjoyed reading Ozzfan1317's thread about

"What are some of your favourite bands"

It got me thinking as to what albums were favourites.

So how about it?

Some of my all time favourites include:-

Pink Floyd-Dark Side of the Moon.

Eric Clapton-E.C. was ere.

Santana-Caravanserai.

Queen-News of the World.

Dave Brubeck-Take Five.

ZZTop-Tejas and Eliminator.

Deep Purple-Machine Head.

AC/DC-Who Made Who.

John Mellencamp-Daddy.

To be continued........

This is Darcy

Again, so many  but here are my top ten (in no particular order) albums that do it for me every time:

ABC - The Lexicon Of Love (just a perfect pop album)
Guns'n'Roses - Appetite For Destruction (reflects everything that was good about the 80s rock scene)
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime (intelligent, kick ass and stunning live as well)
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine (love all their albums, but this, being the first, made the most impact and remains flawless in my eyes)
Def Leppard - Hysteria (as with the G'n'R entry, this was the best of the 'pretty' 80s rock bands)
Duran Duran - Rio (all killer, no filler, and a defining album in my youth)
AC/DC - Back In Black ('nuff said!)
Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes (knocked me for six the first time I heard it, and then again when I saw her live for the first of many times)
Mansun - Six (vastly underrated concept album - sheer brilliance)
Gary Numan - Living Ornaments '79 (a live album featuring his early work - still gives me goosebumps when the intro starts up....)

Some of the odder ones, since I'm sure the regular choices will show up in multitudes:

Hounds of Love- Kate Bush
The Kick Inside - Kate Bush
Crucify- Tori Amos
Diabolical Streak - Jill Tracy
October Rust - Type O Negative
The Mask and the Mirror - Loreena McKennit
Hunting of the Snark - Mike Batt
Haunted - Poe
Boys and Girls - Bryan Ferry
9 1/2 Weeks - Soundtrack
RHPS - Soundtrack
The Day the Earth Stood Still, Mysterious Island, 7th Voyage of Sinbad, Journey to the Center of the Earth - Soundtracks (Bernard Hermann)
Closed on Account of Rabies - Edgar Allan Poe
Word Jazz - Ken Nordine
Symphony #11 - Dimitri Shastakovitch
The Firebird, Rite of Spring - Stravinsky
Der Valkurie - (complete opera) Wagner
War of the Worlds - Jeff Wayne

(A good start, anyway... this list really doesn't touch on my film music soundtrack collection, or the Halloween and novelty records I've been collecting since about 1970.)
