Why would we need to "study" it in the first place?
Sounds like people with "degrees" in psychology trying to get govt. money because they don't want to work at Home Depot or Starbucks

Gov't money? Really? Funny....not too many that i know who have degrees in Psych are paid by the government.

Correct, they're paid by Home Depot, Starbucks or tips in restaurants.

Popeye...i am degreed in psychology...as are my co-workers. None of us work for the government, Home Depot, Starbucks...etc.

As are every other waiter and waitress down here.
The "Big Three" are "psychology," "sociology" and "political science."
Makes for some interesting conversation between the main course and dessert.
And of course a lot of the political science majors want to go to "law school" then into "politics."

Holly, they have "degrees" for almost everything these days.
I bet they even have a "degree" in "Janitorial Science."
I knew we were headed downwards when cops started getting "degrees."

I'm starting to feel like a pariah, with my BA in Polisci and my aspiration to go into law school  .

Kittin, I don't think the legions of lawyers would want more legions of lawyers pushing down their billable hourly rates.
You'd probably be the pariah to them.

i agree that fields are expanding..and i can see your point that a janitor with a degree still pushes a broom (please...no offense to any janitors...drgreed or not).
However...i cannot help but get the impression that you are slamming those who hold psych degrees.

Actually, the area of law I'm interested in is one of the least well paid - I doubt there'll be too much competition.

If you ain't got data your chatta don't matta.

They (people that might receive money for accepting a diagnosis),  the majority of people that are willing to go to a psychologist or forced to, do so with the firm belief that "oh they would know-being the experts."  There is no "coo coo" checks going out unless your counting on agencies that bank on that diagnosis. The very same ones that state things like: we deal with those those that have been diagnosed with bi-polar, willingly and consciously knowing that it may take a while for us to find the right cocktail that fits your need-until that individual acts out and then they are no longer acceptable. Especially, when that is generally what put them there in the first place. Its why they are there. Do your research.

Now see, I was kind of with you when you did your litle thing on majoring in French and expecting a glass of wine. Unless of course your majoring in French and willing to expand your horizons by dealing with those countries that were previously occupied by the French. Being the Vietnam Vet you are, I thought for sure that you would see the possibilities. I would completely understand if that passed you by in the Coast Guard. ****

Holly, I'm not slamming them it's just that there's a thing called *the law of supply and demand* which they taught us about when I went to business school.
Of course we as business majors never thought that those laws could ever apply to us! Nor did lawyers I'm sure.
These days some colleges are advising their graduates to do things like become firefighters and cops!
What does that tell you?
Aren't all these free trade deals and outsourcing just great?

I prefer the term Anti-greed

In the UK you could have got something useful like a a surfing degree.
