Well, this is only a type of tribute - I never did the whole 'on-line' thing, so I don't know if it's a scam or not.
I can, however, speak to tribute real time in my D/s relationship. Sir and I have a tribute ritual we do every day. I initiate it by asking if this is a good time for me to pay him my tribute. Generally it is, but I don't make that assumption. I then get down on my knees and offer myself in his service for the day. Sometimes he asks me questions, sometimes he doesn't - it generally culminates in him taking me in his arms and hugging me.
This works for us for a variety of reasons, one being that we are both very busy and allows us to focus on the core of our relationship. It also tends to keep my ass in line and focused on serving him and I appreciate it because it centers me and reminds me why I'm here. (Not that I generally need reminding, but there are days when life piles up and I need to get extra focused)
So, this for us certainly is real and isn't a scam. It's hard to wait for the right person to come along, who you can make a relationship with; waiting can sometimes allow us to let our guard down and settle- two words for that: don't and don't.
