I apologise for the rather mixed up wording of my poll question, and hope my edit has made my question clearer.

Is it for a survey?

tsatske -> RE: Have you ever been married? (6/2/2008 12:33:22 PM)

Yes, I'm a widow.
and, then there was my short, unfortunate second marriage, but we won't go into him.
Master and i would be married, but my pension goes directly to pay my adult (and mildly special needs) sons rent, so i can't lose it, just yet.

when i married for the third time at the age of 30, i vowed it would be my last marriage...he left after a year & a half...i'm now 62 & have never had the urge to marry again...i figure if you try 3 times & fail that young, it may be because you're just no good at it, nor ever will be...i've never regretted my decision, either...here's to unwedded bliss!!!

GreedyTop -> RE: Anybody else here never been married? (6/2/2008 12:56:32 PM)

I was married once. it lasted literally less than a year (from wedding day to final divorce decree). I'd be open to it again.. maybe...

FRSguy -> RE: Anybody else here never been married? (6/2/2008 1:06:38 PM)

I'm married and hating it!

sweetslavenz -> RE: Have you ever been married? (6/2/2008 1:15:15 PM)

I have never been married or engaged.  I could say that was because of focussing on my career which to a certain extent I have, but I think the reality is that Im not a woman who inspires men to ask me to marry them.  I dont say that as a whiney comment or fishing for reassurance but as a simple statement of fact.

everhope -> RE: Have you ever been married? (6/2/2008 2:22:13 PM)

curious now, what do you think inspires a man to propose marriage to a woman?

i think i might know one reason ...the damsel in distress syndrome. i certainly qualified as a damsel in distress when i married both men. the 2nd rescued me from the first and the first from my mentally ill mother.
.
i have no great need to marry again. being emotionally and spiritually committed that is what appeals to me.

atursvcMaam -> RE: Have you ever been married? (6/2/2008 4:12:55 PM)

<----Was married once for 12 years in a vanilla relationship.  Came close to being engaged (might not really count 1 ring-no date, another, rings were looked at but not purchased) 2 times since.  in a perfect world, i will, one day, find someone with whom i could spend the rest of my life, and who felt the same.  in a truly perfect world we would grow and develop in the same direction at the same time.  Reality has not worked that way.
Some day the trip is bizarre, but i have generally enjoyed the travel.

LaTigresse -> RE: Have you ever been married? (6/2/2008 4:13:23 PM)

Married twice.

The first time when I was 16, almost quite literally a shotgun (there was no shotgun involved, just several angry male family members) marriage. It was misery incarnate.

The second time was when I was 28 for reasons too complex to explain. He is my best friend.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: Have you ever been married? (6/2/2008 4:20:25 PM)

you already forgot about our short online marriage??? geez....

i know greedy didnt forget...greedy was wife #2

awakenednj -> RE: Anybody else here never been married? (6/2/2008 4:32:10 PM)

I have been married. Paperwork for divorce is still not final... but we havent lived together (or spoken escept about our daughter) in 18 months. Now that I've come to understand this side of myself a bit more I can see why my other relationships have failed so miserably....

BBWnNC72 -> RE: Anybody else here never been married? (6/2/2008 4:46:54 PM)

i have never been married.  was with my vanilla ex for 20 years off and on, the last time on for 10 years.  we have known each other for 21 years.  he asked me to marry him 3 times. the first time i was 19 pregnant with another mans child, i was young, didn't think it fair that he should put his name on the birth certificate even though that is what he offered, my mistake; the second time when we got back together when i was 25, i said no again, can't remember why; the third time when i got pregnant with our boys, i said no again, not sure why.  we split last year and are better friends now then we were the last few years of our relationship. and wouldn't change anything for all the money in the world except for how it ended.
now, since joining CM, i have been asked 5 times to get married, 6 total in the last year. i said no to all.

angelslave77 -> RE: Anybody else here never been married? (6/2/2008 4:56:13 PM)

Never been married, was with my ex for 8 years, knew things wernt right, so we never married.

I have got it right this time......so all continuing well ,marriage could be on the cards (but apparently I am not allowed to think about it to much as he wants it to be a big surprise when he asks [:)])
