ORIGINAL: pinksugarsub Pardon me for being cynical, but what bona fide research design could you possibly be using that is acceptable to a degree progrm in which You solicit random answers to polls on a D/s message board? S'thing about this just dun seem quite right. i had to work my azz off to write my Master's thesis; why shouldn't You be made to do the same? pinksugarsub Firstly, who says I'm NOT working My ass off for My degree? Secondly, if I already have a baseline for results (as I used the SLOAN the base line is established across "normal" respondants). I felt it would be interesting and, for a change supportive to our community, to exclusively ask D/s participants. While that aspect isn't entirely part of My design for this use of the survey, it DOES mean that I now have an opportunity to see what, if any, variations in personality distribution the results have thrown up. If I do discover a significant variance (via either Spearman's rho or Pearson's Product moment) then I may explore this further. I suspect that D/s respondants would show a more balanced personality profile with evidance of more self actualisation than the established "norm". But that design will be informed from the results gained from this piece of research! Does that answer your question pink? One problem I could see with this sample is that you've got folks who are self-selected instead of a representative (or randomly selected) bunch of folks. Here you have a) folks that write in the forums, b) folks who want to complete your survey, and c) D/s folks who join internet sites. And what's the power of this sample vs the population as a whole? (ah, the halcyon days of experiment design, I remember it like it was yesterday...) thornhappy
