IMO, if the agreement is signed, then Iraq will be on the path to becoming a US territory which would give our government access to the natural resources and the continuing responsibility of military, political and humanitarian assistance.

Well who's going to honor it?
Not me certainly, you? The American People?
They shouldn't be doing things like that on my "behalf."

I agree with you, Popeye.  But the list of "military actions" that have battered the American public is a topic for another thread.  [;)]

Revealed: Secret plan to keep Iraq under US control

Bush wants 50 military bases, control of Iraqi airspace and legal immunity for all American soldiers and contractors

-----

I am always intrigued by the requirement for legal immunity being sought. We obviously know that what we do in the world is majorly fucked up!

I guess all us thinking people knew this was an imperial war in the first place.

The American Empire will eventually go the way of other empires, meanwhile ordinary Americans will have to get used to being hated by the subjugated people in their colonies.

Does anyone think that building 50 bases in Iraq will lessen the hostile feelings towards the west ?  I know my answer.

If this does make them an American territory, does that mean that they will be eligible for welfare?  Will they have to start paying in SSI?  Just curious.

No, Iraq is a colony which means Americans subsidize Iraqis to get their oil. Despite that, they will hate you, even the ones that you bribe, who only pretend to like you but they really like your dollars more, even though they're pissed the dollar is only worth 70% of what it used to a couple of years ago. In their eyes Saddam was probably right in wanting to trade Iraqi oil on euros.

And we will have mortgage interest rates into the teens once again.

And that is such sweet music to my ears......Right before my eyes, I'll get to witness thousands and thousands of lending institutions and their mid-level/upper management, as well as hierarchical structure crumble.

At the same time....maybe the dollar will regain some potency.....

Say.....

Anyone in the market for a 650k home mortgage at say 23 percent....Or any contractors out there who need a 1.5 to 4-million dollar line-of-credit to fund construction costs for their five-lot mini subdivisions? Hell…I think we can swing you a great deal at right around 21.75 percent. [:D]

Ranger, me too!
Screw this 2.2% bank interest or whatever it is!
I'd be investing in those mortgages!
What's the "Rule of Nines" again?
