What sort of equipment are you looking to make?
I have a few sites that have do it yourself stuff, and a google search brings back a ton. Also ther eare quite a few very good books available (search forums, theres a few topics on this already out there I know, one is mine)

Instead of making it from scratch, quite a lot of furniture can be used, wooden beds and chairs where you simply add the odd hook....
