pinksugarsub -> Do Nicks Attract or Repell or Not Matter at All? (6/5/2008 5:03:29 PM)

When Y/you are browsing, etc., are Y/you  ever attracted to -- or repelled by -- a member because of T/their nick?  Or do nicks have no real impact on Y/you?

i find myself most attracted by nicks that seem chosen by the Dom because of where He lives, what He does, or what hobbies other than D/s He has...and repelled by nicks that seem to claim a 'title' or suggest the Dom is really into a kink i'm not (like s and m).

It's a little enough thing; i am much more affected by the profiles (when one has been written, and is readable).  i am also attracted based on locale.  Age is also important to me.  Etc.

Just curious as to O/other P/pl's reactions (or lack therof) to nicks.

If someone has their title in there screen name (ie LordPhin SirPhin MasterPhin) kind of makes me wonder about weither they are being serious or if they are puffing their chests. Outside of this I let the profile speak for moreso than the name.

stormgirl -> RE: Do Nicks Attract or Repell or Not Matter at All? (6/5/2008 10:27:36 PM)

hmmm, SirLordMasterPhin, i kinda agree . . . i dont like it when I make a snap decision cos of someones screen name, cos i can miss out on knowing a nice person.  'sides, who knows how they got it?  Did, for example, some evil D-person give them the screen name "Storm_in_a_D_cup" and they had to whine and wheedle for days to get it changed?

I don't mind the nics so much, its the women in their 50 and 60's that proclaim they are daddy girls, they give me a chuckle smile...

I'm hoping "sex" catches people's attention. Worked for Paris Hilton.

hizgeorgiapeach -> RE: Do Nicks Attract or Repell or Not Matter at All? (6/5/2008 10:48:30 PM)

I don't get repelled/attracted by screennames, per se, but I Do tend to have a bit of a private laugh and sneer when I see some of the more obnoxious ones and then glance at the profile to see chest puffing and/or absolutely nothing.

GreedyTop -> RE: Do Nicks Attract or Repell or Not Matter at All? (6/5/2008 10:53:01 PM)

not so much the nicks, as the way they type. S/slashy S/speak I/is A/s D/definite RUN AWAY!!!! RUN AWAY!! thing for me.

Of course the CONTENT of what someone says is of more import, to me. Sometimes I will check the profile of an obnoxious nick, just to see what humor content I can glean from it....

Well, i'll be in my 50's soon and i really like what i've learned about the DaddyDom/little girl dynamic.  IMO, the dynamic isn't based on real age, but rather on a sort of duality of roles that includes a "Daddy" element to the Dom's interaction, and a "little girl" element to the submissive's.

i know of submissives in their 60's who are collared...one just recently.  Life -- sex --play --love --D/s -- do not have a "sell by" date.

Probably why I didn't read the whole OP's post...

On subject; I don't care what the person's nick is but some do make me laugh to myself. Like "realsub07" or "BendOver88" and such. Oh and "histoy77" "kinkycouplenycpa" etc etc. Numbers sort of irk me in general.

Leatherist -> RE: Do Nicks Attract or Repell or Not Matter at All? (6/5/2008 11:04:37 PM)

It's the content.

I enjoy people who can think for themselves-even if we disagree. I have contempt for "sheeple" who cling to a herd mentality-vacuously defending meaningless stereotypes and dead traditions.

OK pink it works for some,if the shoe fits wear it and wear it well smile..For some reason I can't see a silver hair woman as 'daddy's' girl...Of courses as always just the demented views of this ol' master...

MadameMarque -> RE: Do Nicks Attract or Repell or Not Matter at All? (6/7/2008 5:15:31 AM)

Regarding the screen name thing, of course I'm influenced by the one someone chooses.  It can suggest the person's primary interests, the sort of attitude they bring to looking for partners, how they view themselves, their style, sometimes their poetic side.

The roles we take on, in our intimate relations, are the roles we feel, for which we have a passion.  It’s not a casting call; it’s who we feel like, inside.  We don’t really choose what feels right and good for us, any more than we choose what turns us on, do we?

For a six-foot four, 240 pound man to be roughed up by a woman half his size is against type, too, but we have a feeling for why both partners want it that way, in a consensual relationship.

It may make someone smile, to see a rich person voluntarily reduced to a menial servant, a big man under the thumb of a petite woman, or a 60-year-old woman who’s someone’s girl, but hopefully, they won’t be inhibited from doing whatever fulfills them.

"If his love is to be called perverse, then let it be so, for maybe love is too great to be normal, too intense to be sane."

SinLee -> RE: Do Nicks Attract or Repell or Not Matter at All? (6/7/2008 5:50:41 AM)

I read most profiles regardless of name.. i make my decisions from there.  i refuse to feel bad about snap decisions based on profiles as people have achoice to put up what they will. if they put up two sentences, they're inviting quick judgement.

i do find myself more drawn to names that do not have an immediately vulgar tone, as much as my tag in chatrooms is a form of notYourCunt, when a dominant reads this and believes they have the right to treat me as inferiour based no interaction whatsoever, i will not hesitate to pretend the letter does not exist.

windchymes -> RE: Do Nicks Attract or Repell or Not Matter at All? (6/7/2008 6:34:00 AM)

I think "repel" is a strong word, but I'm not attracted to, nor do I (just took the grammar quiz...) feel the urge to check out the profile of anyone with names like 'suckmycock69', 'lickyerclit247' ,  SirTittyluvr, stuff like that.  To me, it just sounds juvenile.  (Apologies if anyone actually has those names, those came strictly from my imagination)

More vanilla-sounding names that are just creative, speak of intelligence or include activities I enjoy, like sailing or photography will at least get a perv.  Maybe even an email if I like your photo [;)]

I'm glad I didn't go with "SirSplooge-Alot", as I initially intended.

Just for you, GreedyTop.

Here's an old slashy speech thread you can bump:

http://www.collarchat.com/m_674627/mpage_1/tm.htm

It's from 2006, but i'm sure you can bump it with impunity.

If this one doesn't happen to suit, there are at least two pages of other slashy speech threads to select amoung.

There may be more -- i am not great at using the 'search' function on the boards.  My Google-Fu seems to fail me here.

Meantime, think you can concentrate on the Op for this thread?

I like a nic with the person's name......it suggests they're not in fantasy world or have big ideas....

pink... I see no reason to bump old threads..
And I DID respond to the op, if you'd bothered reading past the first part of my post:
