pahunkboy -> 64 yr old sets fire to gas station, per protest (6/6/2008 6:11:58 AM)

http://www.kcra.com/news/16511037/detail.html

another group is holding a "pray in".  people are frustrated.  Not just at the situation but at the lack of options.   this sounds pretty dangerous. in light of the new terror laws- they could fry this senior.

the thing is untilities ALSO are going up.  I commented that I revoke any easement that does not "serve the public good",  when the CEO of PPL gets 5.8 mil, and UGI gas 6.2 mil, ..........anyhow if people as a group made the same statement the increases would  be less.  Keep in mind "subsidies" are recieved be same utility and by law- thhey must sell at "lowest possible price"

I'm not sure what your trying to say here. Do you think it was a good thing that she started the fires? Should we all write someone demanding her release?

Well writing our congressmen and telling them to start drilling and building refineries might be a start.

Tell Al Gore and the environmentalists to shut up. Environmentalists want gas prices to go up because they think that will force people to conserve and therefore help the environment.

Aren't you one of the first people to shout 'freedom of speech' when it suits your purpose [8|] ?

Hmmmmm....wonder if she was upset over the price of coffee too?

Bethnai -> RE: 64 yr old sets fire to gas station, per protest (6/6/2008 7:28:14 AM)

There have been protests all over the world for the price of gas and food.  Mrs. Ghandi has even stepped up.   I am quite surprised that more action has not been taken.  Although, I'm not sure if this would really qualify as protest. Its looks like more of a sign of mental illness.

Sheesh! I never thought I'd see it!
The anarchists are turning Conservative!

Smart move.  Let's burn down all the places that sell everything that's too expensive.  Then we won't have to pay those high prices anymore.  Sheesh.

This is neither protest nor mental illness. It's arson. Try her and fry her.

A true arsonist would have aimed higher. Its a gas station, its not like there isn't enough material to work with there.

That might be "twue" arson.....but she attempted to destroy three business--the livelihoods of at least three families. There is nothing noble, dignified, or justifiable about it.

She deserves the maximum penalty possible.

Im  surprised you think I condone violence.   I alluded to withdrawing easement from utility lines when they fail to serve the public good.  This is quite different then tossing a fire log --

What does make me mad is that nearly everything "could" be more efficient.  Think rolling black out are bothersome?  Wait until it is unknown if electricity will even be available that day.  We had ample time since the energy embargo of the 70s to come up with solutions.

I know abit about gas stations, as I worked that "field" for 7 years.  I got alot of complaints that our gas was "highway robbery" at $1.31 a gallon.   There are safegaurds built into the pumps and system that a fire is abit harder then one might first guess.

From the perspective of sheeple, and the need for action, yeah.  We need some type of action.

As to commodity future speculating and hedge fund "liguidity"-- I do think the sorry azz dumb shepple, who settle for the soundbite repeated over and over to be facts, and commentary to be reporting.

Ill refraim, as I dont want to drift into rant mode.

Violence, no.  action, yes.

I never said it was dignified, noble or any other idiotic shit. I never said she shouldn't  do time. Your looking for an argument where there isn't any.
You should wait until a "twue" topic comes up then we can "twuly" go at it.

PA-Your not half as surprised as I am to find out that I think you condone violence. I have no idea where you came up with that.

You guys blow as psychic readers. You really do.

However if you must know, I was thinking that amidst the world wide protests, will there be a deliberate attempt to create a connection between protesting and mental illness by the media?  Then I thought, maybe I should dig out my books on media conglomerates and look at who owns what exactly. The suppression of world events in our media would tie in nicely and it isn't above them to do that. My thoughts were also towards an editorial in a Russian newspaper where the author made a comparison between the US and the Soviet Union and the luke warm protests in the US, to which he said something along the lines that Americans were apathetic. I personally wondered if it was apathy or more like futility of effort.  Which brought me  to a possible opposing argument that would be used against my earlier thoughts such as (stay with me for a second):
There are more mentally ill people in the city. Life in the city is the cause of many mental illness vs. people with mental illness are more likely to move to the city. Obviously not the same exact argument but the same concept. Well, there you go.

CL- I am too. Just make it something worth it.
