Churro, neither McCain nor Obama can keep *any* of the promises that they're making unless they raise taxes enourmously like Obama said he'll do or unless they claim bankruptcy on that $9Trillion debt and start all over again.

I'm not sure I can think of a Republican who really exercises independent thought, departing from the party's orthodoxy and party line.

To some degree its Chuck Hagel, Ron Paul, and John McCain. Its a small group, and JM's had to reverse himself several times.

Banana republics have done that very thing from time to time - renogotiate the loan as if from zero. I think we should get in line.

It has another name: bankruptcy! It's very popular.

And that senile old hypocrite is going to do what, exactly? Piss away more of your TAX money, since you seem all het up about that, on this stupid fucking invasion? Let the Chinese bury us even more? (Goddam, was Kruschev right on.) Let the Ken Lay clones keep on offshoring money to Liechtenstein after stealing it from the pension funds and workers via useless rubber-stamp Boards of Directors? Keep sinking more and more money into useless hi-tech weapons, while our roads and bridges are becoming one with the Earth again? Keep fucking the poor and uninsured? Let drug industry hacks run the FDA still? Keep locking up pot smokers?

Here's a news flash: Republicans had been in control of the Congress  from the 94 elections until the 2006 elections. The Republicans controlled all three branches of government from when the dry drunk frat boy was sworn in until 2006. All they accomplished was bankrupting the fucking country. Yeah, I know, that's trivial for the Twue Beweivers, but Progressives are concerned, since we don't believe Gowaduh is gonna swoop down and fix the planet and the Repubs' fuckups.

Even Neil Simon and Tom Stoppard couldn't write a tragic farce that comes anywhere near what the Bushistas (I can probably use that word; I think Bushzis is Verboten) have managed to "accomplish". Yes, I know those names are foreign to art-haters. It's OK, have a pretzel or thousand.

At what point does the right wake up and say, "We had our chance; nothing we did worked; maybe we should rethink that whole Neocon "Contract on America" shit?"

McCain. Is that REALLY the best the Elephants can come up with? I mean, among those repubs who don't cruise airport bathrooms, snort cocaine with gay hookers, blow Jack Abramoff, condone phone jamming in New Hampshire, worship bugman Delay, racist Lott, Mark Foley, deadeye Dick, Gonzalez the liar, et cetera and ad infinitum and semper Excelsior. That's just off the top of my head.

McCain is the BEST the repubs could come up with? Owsley, where are you? Abbie, come back!

Maybe it's NOT McCain the repubs are counting on. Maybe, secretly, it's the second head he's sprouting from his neck that will do the heavy thinking. So we get Zaphod Beeblebrox for Prez instead. Hahahaha too much.

You can't?
So you'd call Bush a, "Republican?"

Yeah, you're right. Forget about the fact that he ran on the Republican ticket. Forget he was backed by Republicans. Forget he ran as Gov of Texas as a Republican. Forget he's a menber of the Republican party. Forget his old man is a Republican, and ran as a Republican, and was elected as a Republican.

He's obviously not a Republican because some whackjob from Nashua says he's not a Republican.

Makes sense to me.

I dont like either candidate but I'll vote for McCain over Obama.

Obama is simply not qualified to be president. We have a lot of problems going on in the world and within the country. This is not the time to be experimenting with someone who hasn't even served one full term in the Senate. There is no time for on-the-job training.

We need someone with experience.

They all suck and they all lie at these levels of politics...i.e. Congressmen, Senators, Presidents...

Then it is so.

I almost fell out of my chair when you said that on another thread. That was funny.

Edited to add: I got it in your reply. In case that was confusing.
