Hey pink,

I requested this to be a fun thread.   Let's not start nitpicking on things.  Personally, I thought Maya's filter suggestion was fabulous.

So, feel free to come up with some filter choices of your own, but do kindly leave the criticism at the door.

Thanks.

OH! I think that is now top on my list.  Great one!

edited to add:  Any chance that we can have it self destruct the inbox or computer of the sender instead of just the message?

You might want to consider that, generally, discussion of illegal activities violates the guidelines and TOS.

More importantly, if you have begun to feel 'net rage', maybe you need to take a step back...pause and reflect...and calm down.

i dun know you or your posting style, so i can't even try to judge your state of mind other than by reading the words you post.

IMO, N/nobody should allow 'net stress to upset T/them.  Real life is hard enough.

Ever hear of a sense of humor? A joke? Something that makes one laugh?  Try it sometime, you might enjoy it.

Now, who was it who mentioned block?

KMsAngel -> RE: CMail Filters - Suggestions (6/7/2008 9:28:49 AM)

know what pink, perhaps you'd do better to watch other posters for a while before you start making "suggestions" to them. we're not seeing you as all wise and motherly helpful. we have mods for that, and they are very wise indeed.

GreedyTop -> RE: CMail Filters - Suggestions (6/7/2008 9:30:12 AM)

ok.. here's one we need... A HUMOR filter!!   for those who don't HAVE a sense of humor..

Why didn't I think of that!  Can we get that one PRONTO??  Please?  *bats eyelashes at CM's filter makers*

Sadly, I don't find much correlation with idiot-itis and IQ.  I've known many with IQs well over 140 who were far more idiotic than some with IQs under 90.  So, the criteria would likely need to be in tune with one's definition of idiot.  I like the idea of AI CM filters, the filters learning your preferences as you go.

Always found this to be true in real life, too.

Why do you think there are so many lawyer jokes?  There's a grain of truth in them that most P/pl recognise.

Same with other professions.

There's just no correlation between the IQ and the azzh*le.

I would really like some new filters added to CMail.

First, I'd like to be able to filter messages by activity type.  Example:  I do not find crossdressing appealing (I don't care if you do it, it just won't be done in my home).  Therefore, I'd like to be able to filter anyone who lists crossdressing as a "love" or "lives for" into my junk mail, while those who list it as a "like" or "curious about" can still message me so long as they can live without it.

Second, I'd like to see a filter for poor spelling, text speech, slashy speech.  If a message contains excessive amounts of any combination of those three, they too would be booted to my junk box.  I understand some people 'think' slashy speech is polite, I understand people make typos, and the occasional 'txt style msg' is fine.  Excessive usage is difficult to read and annoying.  So, if the filter can be tailored to allow for minor instances of the three, yet capable of filtering out excessive usage, that would be wonderful.

.

I've got those filters, and they work just fine...run from my eyes to the finger on the mouse...[;)]

Mind if I borrow your fingers and eyes?  [:D]

Wasn't 'criticism'.

It was advice, which i wish i had been given myself when i first discovered chat, etc.

Additional filter idea:

P/pl given to stress, who want share.

The guidelines make it clear it's only the opinion of the Mods that matters.

i have experience with the laws governing 'net activities.  Sadly, both as a friend of  chat room owners, and as a victim of 'net behavior which probably was criminal (as if any law enforcement agency cared).

The suggestion of harming a member's web-based 'property' is bad enough, but suggesting harm to a member's 'real life' property is worse yet.

S'times, P/pl get carried away a little bit, and kinda forget their words on the 'net have no inflection, tone or other cue. They say what they say...and it can be problematic.

Just saying.

This isn't a serious thread, so please, have fun with it.  I would however, love to see it remain on topic for at least a page :D.

I think it's fair to say that MOST of us got that as the humor it was intended as.

Just sayin'
