Ok, I admit, the below harmless video really, really turns me on.  One of the first things I did, very early on in my pre-kinky years, was just tie guys up and challenge them to see if they could get away.

I can't help but think a very entertaining, quirky segment on any number of progressive entertainment programs would be "The Escape Artist vs. The Dominatrix" -- to see if a very qualified professional domina in a dungeon could accomplish what police officers and others "challenged" escape artists to do.  Femdoms are much more savvy when it comes to restraining men.  For example, does anyone in these challenges ever think to gag the escape artist with something locking so he can't use his teeth, or use thumbcuffs or tie him additionally at the joints to remove any flexibility?  Surely that would do the trick....

Hey Ms Akasha,

They have a lot of these "escape" reality shows on Cable. The one that I was most impressed with was this guy (i forget which segment or even the show name) but was locked in a filing cabinent in this "office" that was fabricated. He was duct-taped bound both hands and feet. Here's the amazing part though, a tanker was in place to dump something on the order of 20,000 gallons of water into the room. He kicked the door to the cabinet, and then picked the lock to the room and freed himself.

I would agree, however, there are certain things that are virtually inescapable... Such as racked and tied, spread-eagle to a bed or a frame. Toss in some spreader bars for giggles.

However, most of these "escape" artists do so in a short amount of time when they aren't closely watched. I'm sure they would be sweating and give up if they were blindfolded, gagged, and constantly whipped while asked to even pick a lock. Those are just my two cents...

Sounds like an interesting show! Depending on just how "progressive" the entertainment program was, there could be a system of incentives for the escape artist. If he escaped, he would get some sort of prize, perhaps a small amount of cash. If he failed to escape within the allotted time, the dominatrix would simply be allowed back into the room with a toy of her choice. And there he would be, perfectly helpless.

I'd sign up. Of course, I'd play to lose...

Hm, not me... The more often you escape, the more restrictive and thorough the ties get... Plus, when She does eventually best me and claim her "prize", i'll have a bit more to answer for... *le sigh* That would definitely be a show to watch.

Perhaps even better would be to have a "challenge" that doesn't necessarily require obtaining total release, but would be impossible to do while fully restrained... So that even if they can't get loose from the hinged handcuffs locked behind their back with the keyholes facing their elbows, and the thumbcuffs on their thumbs and middle fingers, if they can get loose from the hogtie, retrieve the key from the back of a cabinet and unlock the door with it, they still win...

They could do a tie-in (heh) to the "Prison Break" show, or "24", or a new James Bond movie... It's a can't-miss.

i only got the first two minutes of the video to load (damn internets), but those looked like some pretty weak-ass ties, which are a big pet peeve of mine when it comes to movies and TV... It just bugs me to see someone pretending to be all helpless when i know i could slip loose in less than a minute. If you're not going to take the effort to tie someone up properly, just contrive a reason for them to have handcuffs available and use those instead

i'm not an expert, or even horribly experienced in escaping bondage.  When in the past, i was tied up or restrained in some way; there wasn't any expectation or desire for me to attempt to escape.  Also, generally if i'm placed in bondage by someone i trust; i become very calm and relaxed with no desire to attempt to free myself.

However, if i'm directed to attempt escape; i never play to lose.  As a matter of fact, any type of contest with any opponent; i play to win; how does one improve if they do not do their best.

Aakasha, you know me well enough to know i love being gagged,so my challenge would be for you not to gag me and allow me to try the escape.I would agree with one thing..thumbcuffs make it impossible for an escape.

Even if the man cannot escape its still arousing to watch them bound, gagged, and maybe even blindfolded just for fun. To watch someone wiggle, grunt, and attempt to escape its one thing in life that makes me extremely happy, aroused, and even more forceful once they escape or if I have to let them free.~Lorelei

By a Mistress? Of course. For a game show? Hmm... a couple of bucks, or time with her and her favorite implement?

I feel similarly. However, I have experienced the struggle of trying to become free when taking off my latex tanktop ;-)

Cheers,

when i was young, i invented a type of hide and go seek where, instead of counting to 100, everyone got to tie the seeker up, and they had to escape before running to find everyone.

Silly, kinky me.

I have always thought it would be a fun contest, to give a number of Dom/mes a set length of rope or something, and a sub, and give them X minutes to restrain the sub.  The subs would then do their best to free themselves. The first sub to free him or herself would get some kind of prize, and the dominant whose sub is the last to excape gets one as well.  (I was going to say the last sub to escape would get a penalty, but with subs, you do have to worry about that "playing to lose" thing...)

You'd want to limit it to materials where the sub actually *can* escape, given a reasonable amount of time and enough incentive....I am sure that given a free reign with her dungeon or toy bag, the average well-equipped Domme could make it impossible, or virtually so.

And then there are those who have done "self bondage" at, or not, on command. Where you have to wait for the ice cube to melt and release the key for the locks.....yummy

To me what is important here is intention.

If the purpose of the bondage is to restrain no matter what, it's kind of frustrating and a let down if you can get out of it, especially if it's not that difficult.

If the purpose of the bondage is to slow you down, create a visual appeal or just "for fun" (let's assume that bondage above wasn't just "for fun" for the moment, shall we?) then it doesn't matter so much.

I feel the same about movies. If it's presented as campy, silly and rediculous I have no problem when it is just that (ie Spaceballs) When it's presented as serious, but is totally unrealist, shoddy and silly I hate it (ie. Independence Day <honestly, no matter how cool Will Smith is, the concept of a downed fighter pilot punching an alien in the face and saying "Welcome to Earth" is just stupid, poor writing.>)
