Heads up:
http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/one-way-out/one-way-out.html

I watched a couple episodes last night; like most "reality" TV, it's about 90% jibba-jabba and 10% action, but it might be worth lighting up the DVR.

I have had slaves to have anxiety attacks once they were bound. Some have struggled, needed a break and used the safe word. I think perhaps they were not quite ready for the experience. I can totally understand and am very gentle with them when this happens. I think of how I would feel being bound and gently console them and guide them through their fears.

BalletBob -> RE: Watching men escape from bondage... (2/6/2009 1:37:11 PM)

Yes, i use to do that when I was younger too, having others tie me up. I guess that is the reason I like it still, today. But now, I use Leather Straps, and that is a little more Get-Loose Proof.  LMCLAO
Back then though, we didn't use anything for Gags. BUMMER !

Wish I was Tied and Gagged right now, sub BalletBob

I heard that Harry Houdini used any number of tricks, Akasha.  He could dislocate his arms (legend has it) to get out of straitjackets and use various almost hypnotic tricks to get his 'captors' to believe he was tightly bound or shackled when he wasn't..  He'd keep pins in his mouth or in his nostrils and even under his eyelids (likely, other orifices, too).  And he also used to break into venues before the event to hide various implements to help him get out later.  I doubt if many coppers, or dominas, could hold even a good amateur escapologist.

I know lots about Houdini. Read tons about him when I was..well, young, let's say.  The Tony Curtis movie version..urgh, it still has some parts in it, subtle, that push certain buttons.  By far, the best Houdini movie was the one on TNT though with Jonathan,...whatshisname, who was in "That Thing You Do."  They gagged *that* Houdini when they tossed him the jail cell.  Like that.

I thought I had seen EVERY houdini movie known to man and have been whining that Johnny Depp needs to do a Houdini remake, or SOMEONE hot...and low and behold, on a recent flight across country what was on the movie on the plane?  Some....straight-to-dvd (?) film with Guy Pearce as Houdini and Catherine Zeta Jones, I believe. The movie wasn't very good, but I will take Guy Pearce upside down in a straitjacket any day.

And I have emailed *quite* a few "escapologists" to suggest they need to allow a real expert in restraints (ie, a dominatrix) take a crack at them... yum!

I should have known you'd have researched your Harry Houdini.  I read a book on him some time ago - I'm no expert.  I have a wee personal story to tell you about police and a certain escapologist.  It's a bit private so I'll cmail you.

First off Hello Ms Akasha ^_^.

Now to topic. So far there is no ROPE bondage I have not gotten out of when tied by my Mistress. I have been almost mummified by rope and still gotten out without a problem. This is with rope only though. Put in handcuffs or something and it makes it either extremely hard or impossible. But rope is nothing.

You should try self-bondagers... it takes most of the same skill set as escapology, but they don't rely on gimmicked gear, and should be much easier to lure [:D]

I haven't come across as many self-bondagers, to be honest, but maybe I am not looking in the right places.  I do wonder sometimes though how many escape artists or enthusiasts have a sexual fascination with bondage; sometimes I think none, or very little, as it would have to be distracting.  Other times I think many or most must have SOME erotic connection with it....

SB'ers tend to get rather unfavorable treatment on most general-interest BDSM groups; you get a lot of "wanker", "loser", "crazy", etc [8|] Like other specialized fetishes, discussion usually ends up in smaller forums where things can be kept pleasant.

Personally, I don't see how someone can decide "I'm going to be an escape artist!" without first deciding "I want to be tied up!", but I'm biased...
