any idea for someone new to ballet heels? what would be a good shoe to start with? What do I need to do to get my feet ready for them? And my legs?

Spend a lot of time kneeling. This will stretch out the fronts of the ankles. If it's too painful to start, place a folded up newspaper under them, and every day take a few sheets out of the paper. This will lower the ankles over time until they touch the floor.

Lots of toe lifts to strengthen the calves. Place a phone book on the floor. Place the balls of the feet on top and lift the heels. When that gets too easy, find something thicker. I had a Yoga instructor who was nuts about toe lifts, and by the end of a year I could almost stand en pointe.

Something else for kneeling as kneeling, but not specifically for ballet boots. If the knees are too tight, place a doubled over towel tight up against the backs of the knees before settling down. As it gets easier to stay for longer periods, add folds in the towel to make it thicker. Yoga trick for making space behind the knees.

Does anyone know where to find a better pair of ballet boots then the devious ones those have a tendence to make you lean forward

I'm sure you can find a similar style shoe appearance, but that lean is a big part of their appeal and what they're made for!

I would recommend that if you are going to try to walk on them (although I've seen them used to keep subs from standing at all) have rails or something overhead to brace and catch yourself- you don't wanna kill an ankle right when you get started.

Here is a link to shoecraft.com. They bought out the Little Shoe Box stock in London. The LSB were a custom footwear house for over 40 years, and closed their doors in 2005. The link shows what shoecraft has in stock. On a trip to London i had a pair of 6" stillettos custom made, i wish now i had them fit me for a pair of ballet boots also. Even if you do not buy a pair, the site contains lots of lovely fetish shoes. :)
