The Daily Telegram Saturday, October 8, 2005 10:57 PM EDT -- Driver arrested http://www.lenconnect.com/articles/2005/10/09/news/news05.txt TECUMSEH TWP. - Michigan State Police troopers arrested a Tipton man Sept. 26 on drunken driving, marijuana possession and open intoxicants charges. The troopers stopped Jeffrey Gaubis, 34, of Tipton at 10:30 p.m. as he drove his pickup into a parking lot near the intersection of M-50 and Matthews Highway, a report released Thursday said. They reported seeing Gaubis driving erratically and that he appeared to be intoxicated when they spoke to him. He failed one field sobriety test, then asked to be administered a breath test. A preliminary breath test showed his blood-alcohol level to be 0.18 percent, which is more than twice Michigan's legal limit of 0.08 percent. A search of Gaubis' pickup revealed a half-full beer bottle that was cool to the touch and lying on its side on the driver's side floorboard, the report said. They also found green, leafy material near the driver's door. At the Lenawee County Jail, the troopers and a correctional officer found in one of his socks a substance that a field test showed to be marijuana. The troopers lodged Gaubis at the jail on charges of operating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and having open intoxicants in his vehicle. --
