With cancer of course. Has months to live and wants to give all this money away. Gave most to the family but they just took it. Can't trust them.

But you, out of millions of people who live thousands of miles away are my choice to distribute my wealth. Yeah right.

This brings up other questions though, do some people actually fall for it ? If not why would they keep doing it ?

"I once asked members of my family to close one of my accounts
and distribute the money which I have there to charity organization in
Bulgaria and Pakistan, they refused and kept the money to themselves."

First of all if I die I want my family and friends to have the money, what do I care ?

But of course there is always this secret offshore account and all they need is your routing numbers. Yea right. You give me your routing numbers I can pay off all kinds of things, practically overnight, draining on your balance. That's why personal checks are not so desirable anymore.

But that's what I don't understand, are there enough people stupid to fall for this to make it worth their while ?

If people really are that stupid, let the big one come. Beam me up Scotty.

Usually the "motivation"of the victim of these scams is greed .Pure and simple greed blinds these poor dupes to all the warning bells that they should be hearing

Oh wow Mr. James! You want lil ol' moi to distribute your money for you? My pleasure, so how about YOU sending me, YOUR routing codes so I can do just that. Be happy to oblige.
I sometimes think that people who fall for these scams kind of deserve what they get.....

Sort of like the lure of 'free energy' works on those who want to believe in perpetual motion machines.

Ya know, I have a guy that works for me on occasion on contract...done all my remodeling on various properties for the last 15 years, and he called me (he'd just hooked up to the internet)....he's about 60, smart guy (I thought), can do any kind of construction and he said "(Gris)....there's this guy / King / Prince / heir to a katrillion / says I have to call him by Tuesday....wants me to drop $1,500.00 to show sincerity...etc...and he's going to set me up with 92 kajillion if I send this money order.....wants to keep something for his kids....I only have to give him half...."

My contractor (someone I had left in charge of a 50k cash account at all times to pursue my needs) said...."(Gris)...this guy's serious....I've talked to him twice now...I've already sent 500 bucks...."

I contacted my attorneys and told him "DO NOT SEND ANY MORE MONEY UNTIL MY ATTORNEYS HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU..."...and he sent ... another 500 bucks.

This is a guy who can handle any construction related gig...with full ability....and he was about to send them ("{Gris}....can you front me 2,500 bucks...please?")...even more.

Yes, it happens...and with people you're certain wouldn't think twice about something this stupid....

It is no less than astounding.

Yep. Bertha Smith and Gloria Caldwell both were in my inbox today.  Poor things, dying of cancer like that, no family or friends left, not even any lawyers around to take over their power of attorney, go figure, and the mean old government wanting to take their millions out of their bank accounts if they don't show up in person tomorrow.

Alum, there is an update on that. I have changed my thinking on the subject, and you'll see why.

TKit, why don't I do just that ? Really.

I could prtray myself as a busiessman who is very unsatisfied with FEMA's performance after Katrina. I could also mention that I do not support the war. Troops yes, war no.

Now the whole idea is that my routing numbers do not go out.

Hmmmm, maybe I could have a little fun ?

"Sir, this is the USA and here to transfer money to me, you do not need my routing numbers, I need your's. "

I'd be interested to see what happens.

Know what I think would happen ? NOTHING.

So enough people fall for it that it is still worth doing, talk about the lowest common denominator.

I actually have fun with them. This is one of the largest industries in Nigeria its called the 419 scam under the section of the nigerian penal code that makes it NOT a crime to con someone doing soemthing illegal themselves. (Hence the reason its always "stolen money from the previous govt" etc...)

I actually respond sometimes and then drag them on... Get them to send me a picture holding up a sign with "my name" like "Father Ben Dover" or "C. Litoris" so I can recognize them at the airport and I piddle my e-mails with cultural references they wont get like that I will buy them passage on "The Amistad", and that my associates Father Dahlmer and Father Lechter cant wait to have them for dinner... LOL

Then I take the whole mess and send it to "The Ebola Monkeyman" so he can post it, including the pictures, on his web site at www.ebolamonkeyman.com and the whole world can laugh at them... While they are busy writing me, they dont have time to write some poor grandmother in Iowa who might fall for it....

it works. remember -back- earn money stuffing envelops

now a cashiers check look alike is a come on to buy a vehicle, get free cell phone, or join our frequent flyer miles plan.  if you earn miles, points, you can fly to paradise with the love of your life!  [on non-bankrupt airline]

so this guy with cancer;   "we" have a "liquidity" problem.
