Cellular "memory" is when a transplanted organ is thought to retain some of it's previous owners personality and traits, thus affecting the new owner after transplant. Some people are said to suddenly have craving for things they didn't previously like or have memories of things they've never experienced. Although hard to prove the instances are very compelling and somewhat un nerving to the families of all involved- Sonny Graham of Hilton Head, S.C., committed suicide in April after having spent 13 years with the transplanted heart of suicide victim Terry Cottle. The cellular implication is somewhat less likely, though, because Graham's widow was the same woman who was married to Cottle at the time of his suicide. [IslandPacket.com (Hilton Head), 4-5-08]
