It's too bad that Sir isn't able to perform marraiges though he is ordained, he's still waiting to get the necessary papperwork from the government to be licensed to marry people. I could've approached him about it and maybe saved you both some $.

I think the thing that is still surprising me is the costs of just the governmental thingies, like the license, the actual service ($200 just for the city clerk's representative to do the service) the cost of the attorney to send in the legal brief on my divorce to Thunder Bay (a necessity here for the non-Canadian readers!) just the legalities alone are gonna be the pricey part. My first wedding, the license was $35, the church was free (it was my now ex's family church) and the minister was more than glad to do the service for something like $50 since it was a fun cry from the usual funerals and hospital visits. All the costs came in from food, alcohol (the BIGGEST expense of the damn thing!), clothing, the flowers, things like that. This time, all the money is going to go to the legalities.... [8\|]

Actually, y'all, the only main factor I'm looking at is whether marriage will harm or help Rain's immigration process. Once we get a consult, and assuming it's favourable, I'll put up a poll in our very own P&RS area for which season [Rain gets to veto though, just giving fair warning]. Keep in mind, if you really want to attend, to pick a season you'll be available for...please and thanks. Then a date can be set in stone. Oh...on the lighter side of things...since Rain is the only one who put karaoke as a hard limit, and she's verbally agreed that she wouldn't mind, how many of ye are going to sing if I get one of my buddies to set up his karaoke equipment in the reception hall...hmmmm?? To show I'm a good sport, anyone who does sing gets to make me sing a song they want to hear afterwards - and if I don't know it, I'll fake it in an amusing [and probably memorable] way...

I think the marriage should help her with the immigration prcess though don't quote me on it. I know the laws had changed in the past few years, one thing I do know for a fact is once you both are maried, she won't be allowed to legally work without a work visa even being married to a Canadian. Dunno if that'll be a hinderance or not. I promise I will not sing karaoke at the wedding, not unless you want party crashers to leave along with all the rest of the guests!
