Gheesh..does A/anyone know how these bacteria get into our food chain to begin with?

Bacteria are part of the food chain, and we wouldn't be able to survive without them.  Salmonella is a particular strain of bacteria that can make people sick.  We do a pretty good job with modern science in preventing food bourne illness, but it does happen sometimes.  It's nothing new, and it's not a reason for panic.
