Nah you understand far better but surrounding yourself with likeminded people who sit around slapping each others backs, actually this reminds me of a quote "if you arent smart surround yourself with smart people and if you are smart surround yourself with smart people who disagree with you" something I agree with the beauty is no opinion is more worthwhile than any other its just a case of agreeing or not.

In terms of the op the only one I can think of really is fountainhead but I havent seen the film I read the book though I hear the film is meant to be similar, gary cooper I believe, also I would suggest that many 1930's/40's films tend to show a similar idea of 'taming' women.

GreedyTop -> RE: Self Improvement (6/14/2008 9:09:43 AM)

movie role models? I'm going to go with CD for the same reasons.. different actor:  Sean Connery.

*agrees with Colouredin*

Leatherist -> RE: Self Improvement (6/14/2008 9:12:13 AM)

Unrealized self-humiliation antics ARE very funny. Something about having a sense of humor?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Self Improvement (6/14/2008 9:13:31 AM)

Well I have a sense of humor in spades!!  AND what is equally important, I have the ability to laugh at myself!  [:D]

DMFParadox -> RE: Self Improvement (6/14/2008 9:15:14 AM)

Now, for anybody that cares I'll take real contributions and post them on my profile, since I'm not allowed to do the same topic twice in the forums.  So far, we've got... Steven Segal.  I know Goreans read this forum and I don't want to risk moderation again for duplicating a thread, so that's right out.  Come one, come all, talk movies.

sigh... another nonsensism and response:

::Movies r fur losers.... go real life!!!1::

Right.  Cool.  Please suggest those movies that suck the least, I can find companionship on my own just dandy.  Do you hear me complaining about my social life?  No, I just want something I can watch, hit rewind, and watch again.  We live in the 21st century, welcome.  It's not bad, here, all things considered.

Lynnxz -> RE: Self Improvement (6/14/2008 9:17:24 AM)

Haha... I had to google Mark Davis... apparently he got the "1998 AVN Best Anal Sex Scene - Video for Butt Banged Naughty Nurses" award. Awesome.

OP, do you know WHY porn seems fake? It's because it is... especially the bdsm stuff. I can't believe the guys who really think it's all fricking hardcore and realistic. For one, it's hard to get into any kind of headspace at all, when they cut every minute or so. There is a shit ton of people there, everything is controlled... you aren't going to get what you are looking for at all from porn, don't even try. I knew a guy that loved the stuff from Insex... until he found out how the guy was in real life... completely different-total buzz kill.

As far as the Male-masters only thing.... don't paint yourself into a corner here. Just because I am female, doesn't mean I cannot "Take a submissively inclined girl and make her beg"  I have the added benefit of not having backhair.

You asked for advice on something you haven't figured out yet... If you have to ask the question, how do you know where the right answer will come from?

FR

Without being picky but in regards to the not duplicating posts about three posts away from yours is umm

Me too. I nominate Tom Hanks as "Forest Gump".

Not too  bright, but very loyal. And he knew what love IS. [;)]

DMFParadox -> RE: Self Improvement (6/14/2008 9:28:40 AM)

Sean Connery.  Yes, because he's a dominant and sexy man.  No, because the Bond seductions are about as far from real life as movies not made by Disney can get.  They rock, but the women always, always provide the perfect set up lines... Grrr.  Even if life were like that, I wouldn't really want it.  What can I sink my teeth into?

I'll tell you one that comes close, very close, to my personal style:  Van Wilder.  I LOVE the way he approaches situations.  And the romantic lead was very much not a willing participant in the seduction, for the most part, which allows for the kind of charismatic persistance that gets the girl right where you want her.

Sure, it's a humor movie, and the Wilder is made out as a buffoon.  But he's a very, very smart buffoon, with the kind of mindset I have towards dealing with people.  And I already drop the metaphorical game in a similar way.

Hmm, does anyone know of stuff that's in that vein, that kind of approach, but less college campus? Something darker, maybe, with less deus ex machina.

Also, still not ruling out porn.  Know of a top Top on top of his game, let's do it.

Stusmobile -> RE: Self Improvement (6/14/2008 9:32:18 AM)

*fast reply*

To the OP,

Self improvement ... watch, listen, learn ....... was that sharp intake fo breath from your partner from a good spot or a bad one? Can you tell the difference ? When you're talking and she looks off to the left, chews her bottom lip, what do they mean ..... that to me is self improvement.

CruelDesires -> RE: Self Improvement (6/14/2008 9:33:14 AM)

A buddy on mine pointed this movie out to me and I smacked my forehead for not even mentioning it. The movie 300. What is interesting is the different style of leadership that was displayed in the movie. King Leonidas who led by example and who was extremely Dominant IMO. The jokes he made about Spartan women showed how strong they were and how they needed stronger men to follow.

And his main protagonist who was the King of the Persians, Xerxes. He led by getting others to submit to his power, yet crushed them underfoot if they did not.

There is a lot of small yet telling subtle lessons that can be learned from that movie and the people who were involved and their interactions.

::Coloured:

Good looking out.  I'm watching that thread now.  But, it's different enough that I don't feel ridiculous in continuing here.

::Lynnxy:

Ach, nooooooo.... don't be a sheep!!!!

I do JUST FINE thank you.  I want to be better.  Do not be a FRACKING MORON about this.

If you care, that was strike one.  Another post without useful info and/or off topic and you're hidden from my view, at which point you may join the rest of my adoring fans here.  Again, this only matters if you care.  Have a nice day.

DMFParadox -> RE: Self Improvement (6/14/2008 9:42:01 AM)

So far:
Stephen Segal... Van Wilder... 300.... verrrrrry different approaches, but interesting.

sigh, gotta go.  I've got a sweet, delightful asian girl to go say hello to.  Not sure if she's a sub, but I strongly suspect it.

I've gotten no work done today... God, I'm an idiot for getting sucked into this drama.  Lesson learned though, there's a button for that if I can't avoid getting pissy.

Back tomorrow, maybe.  laters

*Eyeroll*

We are telling you how to be better. Besides, wouldn't you think it'd be better to observe people in real life, than a character with a script? I understand the whole movie thing... (And agree with CD about the Leonidas character from 300) but I don't see it being helpful in the long run. Personally, I know a man who has a freaking inhuman ability to get into the head of the females he plays with... and he plays with a lot of girls. So much for the tops who come on here and cry about being ignored, this guy turns down submissives 4-5times a month. The ones he does play with, come back for more every time. THAT'S someone I'd take notes from. (and have)

Also... again with the all porn is horribly fake. End of story.

And do feel free to explain the sheep comment. The moron comment as well if you are feeling particularly up to it. As far as drama, you didn't get sucked into it, you created it with a particularly nice high school flair to the whole thing.

camille65 -> RE: Self Improvement (6/14/2008 9:52:58 AM)

I just found this thread and read the OP. Maybe because it was edited but I sure didn't see what caused such an uproar. Some routinely smash a post but some who responded startled and really dismayed me with their attitude . I also didn't see him as demanding people post in certain areas, more just a link to the other post.
He wanted information from a particular segment of the population and made that clear which should be an okay thing to do.

There are a few things that I would tend to ask female subs instead of asking male doms, it is simply a matter of wanting something from a view that people are living. I wouldn't up and discount an answer from the opposite of what I seek but I would prefer the commonality of my gender or sexual persuasion.

I don't ask guys what sort of tampon is best for heavy flow days for a reason.

I forget the name of the movie.. but in it he's a master thief.. (Angelina Jolie? cant recall) .. has a castle in Scotland.. blah blah.. actually a great movie.. and (IMO) the seduction is totally different than the Bond character... more of a gradual thing so that at the end, SHE wants it, he doesnt just TAKE it.. I hope that made sense

I'm curious why you don't think the Leonidas character won't teach you anything. Let's break his qualities down by category.

He is,
A. Intelligent.
B. Loyal.
C. Strong both physically and mentally.
D. Honorable.
E. Stoic.
F. Humorous.
G. Attractive.
H. Well groomed

I'm sure there are others, but cannot think of any right at this moment.

Granted. The movie in question was Hollywood's rendition of what went on in historical Greece.. yet it was worth watching for that reason IMO and for its artistic license. Are these characteristics that you would look for in a man? Are these characteristics that a submissive will look for in a well balanced Dominant? Again.. I see lots of small things in that movie that fits the OP's bill when it comes to wanting a "story" that shows an interaction between Dominant men and the people/women that follow him. I think the "porn" comment threw everyone off and that may be a reason why some showed a "mob mentality" and went and tried to drag the OP down.

CD

Hey I take offence to that...

I make porn that is designed to get Men AND WOMEN hot, and part them from their money...(I would rather make a little money doing something I love then make alot of money doing something I HATE so I can afford to do something I love)

to the O.P. :

here's a movie I'm sure you will love..and can learn alot from: Fight Club

"Self improvement is masturbation, self destruction is the answer"
