After a call from my dad, I was trying to view some places I used to go which are supposed to be flooded.  I thought that there has got to be a way to look at some of them via satellite since so many people seem to be able to zoom in on pictures of other people's backyard barbecues.  I don't want anything that would let me see the people, but I just want to get a look at some of the stuff thats going on.

Anybody know a good site to try?

The closest thing I know of for real-time is  http://earthnow.usgs.gov  And they have a searchable database at http://glovis.usgs.gov  But, it won't get you in close like Google Earth/Maps.  They can be months or years behind in updates.

I google'd for something out of curiousity but didn't find any high res real time images. You can get weather satellit eimages from a number of source but nothing like google earth.

NASA and GoogleEarth both have programs that are pretty good.  But they are not real time images.  They have not photographed every inch of the Earth, and some of the images are many years old.  The area you want to look at maybe flooded, but it won't necessarily show up in the image.

Thats what I found with google earth.  I was hoping for something closer to real time.  If you com across anything thats supposed to be real time let me know please.  Its a kind of morbid interest I have in sthis at the moment.  Sort of like when you look at a car that was in a wreck just to see how bad it was.
