A very interesting article....
And what is happening in Canada today I fully feel will occur in America no matter who wins these upcoming elections. The trend in American government in both parties is entitlements, political correctness, socialism, bigger government, and destruction of civil liberties. This is happening in Canada at a fast pace. Many in America who have any sense of intelligence can see it happening here.

I'd like to know exactly what the Rev. Boisson said, I noticed it wasn't printed and I wonder if the reason for it not being printed is that he wasn't so much expressing a view as expressing something rather hateful that could be construed as incitement.

As for emigrating away from political correctness to the US, didn't political correctness originate on the campasses of the US?

What sh*t. Canada has always been a great country, IMO.  i love Niagra Falls, Toronto and Windsor.

You might wish to read the entire article: it is about christians verbally abusing homosexuals and being taken to court for it.

Encouraging hatred of gays is a crime in Canada.

However, for some reason, religion (Christianity) is immune to our anti hate-propaganda laws.

In other words, you can promote hatred in Canada as long as you are doing it solely for religious reasons.

I'm all in favour of litigating these neanderthals. The last thing I want to see are children being indoctrinated into a religious cult of hatred against a harmless people who happen to select those of their own gender for love and marriage (which is also legal in Canada).

You know kittin ... I really have to ask ... do you put any thought into your posts, or do you just react from the gut with your sarcastic anti-Americanisms?

Do you dispute any facts, or any of the conclusions? 

Why or why not?

You have anything of substance to add to the discussion, perhaps some enlightening bit of wisdom from your French and Brit background?

Boisson lost his case by arguing his religion required him to hate gays and to verbally bash gays in print and in public. He's now under a court order not to publish in any way on the subject or to speak publicly on the subject. There are US citizens under even more stringent court orders, since at least 1988, and I missed the outraged squees that our entire way of life was destroyed.

So what exactly is the big deal about this? That right wing hate speakers are being held accountable in Canada? That some far right wing wannabe politician was dumped by the Conservative Party for being to far right for them? That Canada does not have the same tradition of absolutely unfettered free speech as the US?

Honestly, having just read the articles, I would have to hear the reverend in question in the first article to accurately judge his words as hate speech or not.  Hate spech from behind a pulpit is part of what drove me away from the church.  It does happen.  If this guy is guilty of that, hang him.  If he's not then they should respect his rights to speak.
The second article seems to show a government agency trying to justify its existence.  if we look like we're doing something then they'll keep funding us.
Just my 2 cents.

And, kitten, your humor wasn't lost on all of us.
