Status: offline 		I don't think the wheelchair should have an effect on a relationship unless it was preventing something in paticular that the master really preferred. Then again it is only a matter of the Dom/Masters preference as to thier liking.

Status: offline 		I agree with what papa said. I know of a couple of subs in wheelchairs who are doing good with their Doms. The only thing to hold you back here is you yourself.

Status: offline 		I'm glad to hear that.  Seems some i have talked to have decided i wasn't for them due to my handicap.  I guess that means they weren't for me either.

Why do you think this question is any different than this:

As a man, would you be afraid to have a girlfriend that has to be in a wheelchair?
As a man, would you be afraid to have a wife that has to be in a wheelchair?

There is nothing special about D/s or M/s in this regard.  People are well, people (most of the time).  If people decide you aren't for them, you wouldn't necessarily be for them as vanilla either.

Status: offline 		Your profile and journal look like a philosophy essay, and provide no details about you except your fibromyalgia.  It's ok that you are figuring things out, and expressing that, but jeez.  Do you own a dog?  What's your favorite food?  What do you do with your time besides go to the doctor and think about BDSM relationships?

It seems as though part of what is going on here is that you are allowing yourself to be defined as "the fibromyalgic one" instead of "a person who does all kinds of cool stuff and also happens to have fibromyalgia."

Status: offline 		I had a friend once, His slave was in a wheelchair because on a surgury the doctor screw up and then sent her home to die. I saw her do more things from a wheelchair then most able bodied people can do on thier own.

I'm Sure there were restrictions but one thing that she did learn is that she had to alter her design of what she wanted because being in a wheelchair changes things and the Fantasy in her head wasn't as realistic as the one in real life.

She had to learn to be happy with what she could do rather than be miserable about what she couldn't.

Status: offline 		as a newly disabled person, only a year in the chair now, it's a huge adjustment.  there are things i can't do.  ok, so what?  there always were things i couldn't do, play the piano, fly a plane, walk a tightrope, whatever.  you're only limited by what you choose to limit yourself to; are you going to sit and sulk or are you going to live?  dominant or submissive, top or bottom, whatever your chosen role, you still are who you are, a person who has wants and needs and dreams to fulfill who just happens to come with a few extra accessories.  besides which, i'm always in perfect position for giving otk spankings!

Status: offline 		Scene-wise, that opens up some real possibilities with "control" and so on. A slave in a wheel chair could be hot. Assuming she was small enough for the average man to pick her up, the Master could put her where he wants her and so on. I think that would provide for some intensely hot scenes. Oh, if I were a voyeuristic fly on the wall. :)

To tie this up...No, I don't believe it would make a damn bit of difference to the person that is right for you.

The reality is that many people will say no but when the rubber meets the road, they just won't like it.  It's not really any different from age, race, religion, body type, smoking, etc.  Everybody has their preferences... some are very specific (my buddy who wanted a size 2 Jew - and bless him, he found her after years of looking), to very vague - someone who makes me laugh. 

You can sit around and worry about "what if" or you can say fuck off to anybody who gives you shit.  That's what many people have to do.

Status: offline 		As a Switchy type i have done BDSM D/s  exchanges with people that had to use a wheelchair , and not one of them was handicapped  more so i found they disliked that term . A quote from a wonderful lil subbie gal , telling people i am handicapped means places limits upon myself  and people  wish to place limits upon me  . Now i am by no means saying not to use the term  instead i am saying do not let it project  and be yourself . Your 100% correct in the fact that they are not ment for you if all they see is a wheelchair and not the person you are .
However if i do Tops someone that needs the use of a wheelchair or discloses some form of disability i also take the time to educate myself prior to an exchange .Just as i feel  full disclosure should be made between parties prior to anything happening to be safe . One example would be a Domme friend who "played" with a bottom male he did not disclose  certain blood thinner meds  he was on and when some cuts and open wounds happened  they were not easy to stop bleeding .If he only would have disclosed this prior things would have been much better , fortunately for him she had  medical  training .

Hello sweetshykitty, and welcome to the boards.
We are all going to develop some sort of medical conditions, if we live long enough.
Many of us are walking around and forget that we are a car accident, household accident,
fall, diving, swimming, boating, freak accident or illness away from being disabled or in a wheelchair.
 
The RIGHT man for you, will not care at all sweetheart.
The WRONG men will care.

Rejection is something felt on both side of the fence, so to speak. in terms of attraction (or lack there of! lol) BDSM is no different to vanilla because people in the lifestyle are still people and have the same bagage, hang ups etc. as vanilla.

I've been passed over, it happens and will happen again I've no doubt. Don't stop loking for what you need, there are a lot of good people around and if you stop looking you'll never find them.
