i am a needle ninny...

when they tap my arm they use a 16. When i first saw it i thought it was going to be "Floor...meet face."

Status: offline 		Yep, if they're tapping, because they're drawing fluids out, they would be using a bigger one. If you really want to kiss the floor, ask them to show you a 10 or 12 gauge.....   When I was working on the ambulance, we'd get patients in diabetic comas and we'd slap a syringe of 50 grams of pure glucose with a 16g needle straight into their vein and WHAM! They'd come to going "where am I and who the hell are you???" Amazing drug, sugar!

(Eats the vein though so we were pretty careful with it.)

They did. Frequently. It was usually a one-shot (no pun intended) deal. But when their reading was below 60 on the meter, sometimes lower (I've seen a 26 personally, still trying to figure how they survived) and we were a good 30-50 miles from the hospital, we had to risk it. It wasn't something done lightly.

even if you got a little into them before the vein blew...it would probably been enough
