I'm in the anti-dentist anti-christ camp right now too. It took 2 dentists and 3 oral surgeons to figure out that I have a massive infection inside my jaw and saliva glands even though I kept telling them. Plus I'm tired of the mixed messages. One guy says all my fillings are in dire need, must must be redone now. Another says they are fine. An oral surgeon says they need redone. All that while I'm simply trying to find out what is causing pain that is dropping me to the ground, having nothing to do with old fillings! $800.00 to get onto antibiotics. Screw them. Yup. Yup.

I once needed a root canal and I disagreed with the endontist just which tooth it was that was bad. He decided to test it by putting a piece of ice against it. I literally shot up two feet out of that chair. I felt like a cartoon character. I have never before or since experienced pain like that (including 3 births). Hmmm, it was kinda cool, actually. [;)]

Gris, you poor baby! I've felt that pain before! And no, it wasn't during childbirth! Maybe we can compare notes when I finally get the nerve to go to the dentist...I have two broken teeth, and at least two cavities that I can feel.......ain't NO WAY I'm letting them do a root canal...I had one tooth pulled because it was broken in half...unfortunately, the orthodonist ended up breaking the tooth off above the gumline, and drilling the roots into 4 pieces because the back set of roots had fused together. Thank God for novacaine.....it makes me sleep for hours afterwards, but at least I didn't feel anything when she was drilling and yanking and twisting on the roots.....I did look when it was over...they had to be almost 3/4 of an inch long.....seriously! I am such a baby about dentists! Talk about your hard limits!
