BadJohn -> Variation on the Ball Dance (6/12/2008 10:42:14 PM)

As you all know, the Ball Dance consists of needles or hooks inserted through a person's body and weights attached to them by cords.  The person then dances and whirls letting the movement of his or her body make the weights tug on the temporary piercings.

I've found a new approach.  I inserted two fish hooks through one of my partner's nipples and then attached rubber bands to the hooks.  I started the penultimate movement of Modest Mussorgsky's Night on the Bare Mountain.

I just held the elastics as she began to move back and forth in time to the music.  As she became more sure of herself, she leaned back to take up the strain.  Then, she began to circle me.  I was careful not to increase the pull but to let her control her own stimulation.  She pulled back harder and we began a series of spirals the became faster and faster in time with the music.

In the beginning, she was looking into my eyes, but soon she was looking beyond me, eyes glazing, lips apart.  At several peaks in the music, she jerked backward, gasped and reversed direction.   When the music stopped, she gracefully dropped to the floor.

I clipped off the barbs and removed the hooks, refreshing the antibiotic and putting a pair of adhesive pads on the punctures, which had begun to bleed a bit more than regular temporary piercings.

I carried her to the futon and we cuddled for a long time.

I wish I could honesty say I found this to be hardcore or shocking enough to squick me out.  Actually kind of is mild in comparison to some of the Body peircing and more extreme body hooking that people do.

Still it is kind of different with the rubber bands on the fish hooks.  That would have a little extra give during play as well.

I can totally understand the amount of blood involved with fish hooks though. All depends upon what size hooks and the barbs.  BTW what size and style of fish hooks did you use anyways? What size rubber bands as well?

Generally I recomend grinding off the barb before the piercing because sometimes hooks strraighten out under stress.

I've done a flesh hook dance before myself and have done the installing the piercing side now as well.
They are hugely spiritual for most people who participate.

Generally I use 12 Ga Stainless hooks that have been autoclaved and not through the nipple but rather through the skin of the upper chest back as well as some other areas of the body. Then you can tie off to a support or even tie off two or more piereced dancers to each other.

Actually in the late planning stages of holding what we are calling an Energy Harvest Dance in September in the ATL area.

Pink the Ball Dance is patterned after an anchient hindu dance where they would pierce the skin and tie off fruits as weights and spin and dance until the fruit fell off.

Modern Primative equivolents are done many places today.

I worry about leaving roughen sections in removing the barbs, but thanks about the straightening out hint.  I hadn't considered that.  I tried to find stainless steel "humane" hooks but could only find them in regular steel.

Same size and material.  Sterilization was accomplished by 30 minutes in a pressure cooker

12 gauge stainless hooks.  Bands were the thick "postal" size

I can see why she was bleeding a lot if you didn't loosen the threads until after she had dropped to the floor.

Only ball Dance I've ever seen was when some bloke cane to a formal dance wearing a leg shackle with a 25lb iron ball atached to the leg shackle via a length of chain. he proceeded to use the ball as his partner and joined in a Viennese Waltz anf then a tango.. No one said anything as he didn't apear to be pissed or interfere with anybody.. Guess he figured he had a partner who wansn't about to piss off and leave him on his Pat Malone..
