For a very low cost paddle to get by on,,check out ping pong paddles at sport stores.
Also look at wood working shops that cater to those who enjoy making items from wood. Some have very very decent prices on wood boards of different thickness's and sizes. As well as different types of wood.They can give you the name of a good wood worker to shape it into a good paddle for a low cost.

Is there a Difference between woods? Like the amount of sting? Or is that based on the number of holes? Just curious only spanked with my hand but I wouldnt mind having a paddle around just in case..:)
