An FYI...i have found out through personal experience that answering "Good morning" with "Oh shut the fuck up!" can, and does, give one the reputation of being snarky.

Driving to and from the airport in Orlando or any large city at 4 AM so someone can catch a 6:30 AM flight. Unfortunately we live East of the airport so as I am headed back the Sun is rising right in my face.. groan in the beginning of rush hour traffic.

I get home, have coffee and go back to sleep so I can wake up an hour later.

Catching my first wind...around 3 p.m.

Conversation and general perkiness should be ideally nonexistant or minimally...minimized before that time. Cooperation is healthy.

Question:  how many of you non-morning people are also coffee drinkers?
I get lots of exercise and don't touch caffein so getting up is very easy.

I hereby make the motion that all individuals who are like Dan in behavior and ANTI coffee be taken and be tarred and feathered.

Is there a second?

I wanna belong to the snark family, cos I can be soooooooooo snarky in the morning, but I gave birth to snarks tooo.
Last weekend my eldest  had a buddy stay overnight, an early bird and I was up too, I managed to say good morning and even smile at him, I over heard the eldest say, "shes up? and didnt tear your face off?"

Mornings should happen later in the day. I am neither a caffeine drinker, nor an exercise person. My circadian rhythms are those of a nocturnal beast. I prefer to sleep in daylight as much as possible. Summers are hell, save for the fact I LOVE to swim.

Thirded..

I can drink a triple expresso and sleep. I am a morning person only when I have not yet fallen in bed from the night before. I have always been this way.

I am a Nocturnal, Carnivorus Homo Sapien Female, who spawned the same in her youth. Always have been , always will be and any chirpy perky morning fool of a person who bounces anywhere near me is in dire danger of ending up on a breakfast plate at 3 PM. I have been known to accurately Bi**hslap fools who try to awaken me, without ever opening an eyelid if I Don't have to get up. Even my dogs are smart enough to stay out of reach until I am upright and moving on my own. The cat just hides.

The Early Bird may get the worm, but the worm got up earlier..see what happens? If he had stayed in bed he would still be alive.

The only time perky morning behavior is acceptable is for the express purpose of torturing the snarky teenaged UM's who are venturing out of their nice cozy beds to face the cruel world.  Then a huge smile and a disgustingly cheery "Good Morning" is most definitely called for.  After that, any and all "good mornings" I receive in said cruel world are met by a cranky "Hmmm, well it IS morning."  Intraveneous coffee & a day that begins at noon would be perfect!

And would someone PLEASE come over  and rid me of the stupid little bird that sits outside my bedroom window and cheerfully begins to chirp at 4:28 am (I kid you not!) every freaking morning?!?!

(edited b/c I cannot type at 4:48am to the accompaniment of cheerful chirping!)
