I've decided that online really isn't the place for checking in as new to the bdsm world.   I plan to find some Munches and groups in my area..if anyone could steer me in the right direction I'd appreciate it!

Gee Denise, the title of yr Op scared me...i thought maybe there were dangerous D/s places in PA and NJ, lol.
 
i used to use a web site to find D/s groups:
 
www.mybdsm.com
 
i haven't tried it in awhile and don't even know if it's still there.  The results i got from it for my area were not very helpful, but it may vary from state to state.
 
Also, some other D/s web sites have features like 'Get Local', so if yr on more'n one site, check and see.
 
i guess the last thing i could suggest is to search here on CollarMe for a Domme -- or whomever -- in both PA and NJ, and email Them, asking if They have information about D/s groups in the area.

I've heard of the group: "Knot for Everyone" I believe they are Southern/Central NJ

I'm sure there is at least one group in philly...actually look into MaST (Masters and Slaves Together) I heard they have a Philly Chapter... and if they are anything like the NYC chapter..a great group to go and learn from:)

Also you may very much be interested in www.TESFest.org its a little bit more northen NJ but its a Huge event with LOTS of great classes and stuff... basically while it can be a bit overwhelming... its also a great on stop shop type of event to get a taste (class) on just about everything and see a hell of alot more... and if you like what you see.. there are plenty of awesome people to talk to about it:) presented by a very very well recognized educational group based out of NYC www.tes.org

another NJ group though its more Northern NJ: check out the group Leather and Roses they are involved with a store in NJ www.dfp.com they are a great group of people.

Googling, I found http://newjersey.backpage.com which might have some things for ya.
It's sort of a New Jersey Craigslist for anything, including, it seems from some ads, good 'ole Billy D & Sally M.
For example, http://newjersey.backpage.com/NoStringsAttached/classifieds/Disclaimer?category=4455

Thank you for searching(even if i wasn't the person who requested it) but after a quick Skim of the pages,  I wouldn't suggest anyone to waste their time on it... most of the ads were spam links.  not that there aren't a ton of them on craigslist..but at least there, they get flagged and removed pretty quick.

Google Gate Munch cherry street.There is a very active MAsT chapter. Should be able to locate that throught the national MAsT Also there is a Dyke stop gathering  ( lesbian leather group)at the Bikestop in Philly on June 21
