ORIGINAL: faerytattoodgirl they are apparently trying to get the old 1950's game show law where they can not cheat or fix games shows and trying to make this law applicable to sports. because the talk is huge now about nba games being fixed and point shaving and people gambling and shit... not to mention the cheating in football and the steroid use in baseball...and cheating/fixed games in soccer where the ref's fix the games. so far the only clean sport has been hockey. will this new law if it comes about...actually be enforced? or will nobody give a shit about it??? no i dont have a link but im sure there is one out there someplace...its huge talk on our canadian sports channels...probably was talked of on espn as well. There is some difference's though between videogate(football)and the steroid(baseball, football, track, bicycle and you name it)and what is going on in Basketball. All examples are cheating but for the most part we're talking about an attempt to get an illegal edge, disturbing to say the least, but and this is a big but the difference is with the current controversy in Basketball we're talking about an attempt to fix the game. This is so much worse, once the public loses faith in the legitamcy of the game they are finished. For better or worse sports fans can accept an athlete looking for an edge, they don't like it but it's a world away from fixed games ,which is what the NBA better get off their ass about.Otherwise before You know it they are the World Wrestling Federation...and that is death for a sports league
