KatyLied -> Cougars (6/15/2008 8:15:39 PM)

Yahoo story

I never thought about dating a younger guy.  But I find some of them to be attractive and cool, and it's got me thinking, maybe, and why not, and could be a possibility, and it also widens the pool of available men if I consider younger guys (something I've not been willing to do in the past)

My Ma is, well old enough to be my ma
My stepdad is 28

they seem happy, and isnt that what matters?

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Cougars (6/15/2008 8:42:59 PM)

*snerk*

My Beloved Spyder is 7 years younger than I am and we've been together almost six years.  It's the best relationship I've ever had, including the one with my ex-husband.  I've always prefered to date younger men.  I've tried older, and...well...they're boring.  YMMV, of course.

and im your granny [8|]

MissMagnolia -> RE: Cougars (6/15/2008 8:44:54 PM)

I have never been out with a man my own age or older. I always seem to end up with men considerably younger than myself. It's not something I deliberately set out to do, it's just the way it works out. They are usually around 15 years younger than me.

I really don't get the whole age thing. If two people are happy, good luck to them.

KatyLied -> RE: Cougars (6/15/2008 8:48:30 PM)

I agree.  There is a double-standard that tends to celebrate the older man young-younger woman coupling; but looks down on the older woman-younger man coupling.  The main thing is compatbility and that can found outside the confines of close age.

pissthirstysub -> RE: Cougars (6/15/2008 8:50:14 PM)

I agree with the article, but find the lable "cougar" offensive. It evokes  images of women "on the prowl" rather then happy relationships.

oneverygoodgirl -> RE: Cougars (6/15/2008 9:45:38 PM)

Thank you for clearing up what a "cougar" was.. I always wondered..

cravesdom -> RE: Cougars (6/15/2008 9:57:24 PM)

I think as long as you are happy together, age is just a number. Having said that, I tend to end up with older men. Not out of any specific requirement on my part, just seems to work that way. But if an older man can be with a younger woman, why not the other way around!

PanthersMom -> RE: Cougars (6/16/2008 12:45:30 AM)

i'm almost 10 yrs older than cub.  we've been together almost 6 yrs now and i'm happier than i've ever been before.  his parents didn't really approve, still don't, but we're happy.  the only time the age thing comes into play is when we're discussing history he didn't get to experience.

I'm a believer that if there is a meeting of the minds and of the hearts, then the year typed onto your birth certificate becomes irrelevant.  Being open to possibilities can bring about great surprises.

ResidentSadist -> RE: Cougars (6/16/2008 3:12:09 AM)

I swing both ways.  My exs, julie is 14 years older than me - aimee was 23 years younger.

Some women ARE "on the prowl"....there isn't anything wrong with that.

Lot of things in this world to be offended over, this isn't one of them.

Katy, you want to nail a younger guy, good deal. [8D]

LadyRainfire -> RE: Cougars (6/16/2008 3:52:34 AM)

Like RS, I've gone both ways - had relationships where my partner was older (30 years older) than me and younger (16 years younger) than me. The younger one didn't work out as well but that was his mind set more than anything. Now, Lumus is 7 years younger than me physically but you couldn't tell it. We mesh so well that except when something like this comes up, I forget that there is an age difference between us with me being older.

I think it's great that women are finally able to be with younger men without the stigma. I've always wondered why it was such a trophy, a prize, for men to score a hot young babe yet it was such a taboo for women to look at younger men. Here's one for the cougars!!

Age is just a number.  It's all about compatibility.  I have dated much older  (38 years my senior) and younger (19 years my junior).  It's really nobody's business in who you date or develop relationships with.

I used to have my search filters set for 35 max age.  Younger is fun.  Way fun.  Really, really fun.  Did I mention how fun younger guys are?
